The two numbers give us the ratio of CHL holder convictions for murder and manslaughter per 100,000 CHL holders. That number is .70 per 100,000. Yes, the decimal point is in the correct place.

Amazing the link even referenced an unarmed teen who could have been related
to a current political disaster !

Should I assume that this statistic excludes justifiable homicide?

Correct. The stats in the article refer to convictions of CHL holders.

Somewhat related, Police Officers three times for likely to commit murder than CCW carriers:
http://www.ammoland.com/2013/10/police-officers-likely-to-murder-than-concealed-carry-permit/#axzz2iTzkxNj5
They used FL as the basis for CCW since they have more permits than any other state.

The Brady Campaign(or was it VPC) had a shocking, and in depth, expose on how they are all just ticking time bombs.

And figure half of that .70 were innocent but convicted. So more like .35/100,000 or 1/300,000 ...Not bad.

That's because Texas is a "polite society"

Texas: The only state you can shoot someone legally (under the right circumstances) for ticking you off!

Texas has pretty strong self defense laws, I'd put it as less then half for sure.

Dps puts out a report yearly showing stats of chl carriers convicted of all the major felonies. We looked at it during our chl class, pretty impressive.

sent from my damn tappy device...
