Mossberg MVP owners: Are you finding that your rifles prefer certain types of AR mags over others? Pmags vs. USGI, for instance.

Are 10-rounders sufficiently easy to manipulate? Or do you prefer 10/20s?

TIA, all.

All the mags I tried in my MVP have worked well but if you are buying new I recommend the Gen 3 Pmag 10's. The fit snug with minimum wiggle.

The 10 rounders never existed before so they would be the newest generation.

I'm looking for ways to build a couple flush mags and if anyone has some ideas please share.

I built one from a gen 2, 20 rounder and it's great but now I can't find anymore gen 2, 20's!

I was surprised to find Bushmaster mags seem to fit better then any of my PMAGS, I will say stay away from the Mission First Tactical mags, I tried 1 & it was for lack of a better word, FLOPPY, I was using Magpul PMAGS & I found a 5rd Bushmaster mag in the woods & I fits way better.

I guess You would have to make a flat bottomed follower & shorten the spring, cut a 5rd steel mag case down & make sure to cut the tabs to hold the floor plate, but it won't be true flush, but still pretty slick. I wouldn't waste the time unless you only want to hold 3 rds.

I made a couple flush mags out of KelTec SU-16 mags, they hold 6 rounds.

Pmags work best with an aluminum magwell, but work fine in the original plastic magwell. C product 10 rounders work in aluminum magwell, but are better in the plastic magwell.

Any of you guys own a MVP in 308? If so have you tried out M1A/M14 mags. I've been eying a MVP in 308 and the ability to use M1A mags is a big selling point for me.

I have a MVP Patrol 308.

From personal experience...
Mossberg AR10 10 round magazines = bad
ASC SR25 10 round magazines =mixed results
DPMS LR308 19 round magazines = good
Magpul PMAG LR/SR 10 round magazines = good
Springfield Armory M1A 5 round magazines = good
Checkmate M14 20 round magazines = good
KCI M14 20 round magazines = bad

I have an MVP Patrol in .308
Here are the mags I have and have fired thru this rifle:

Mossberg AR10 10 round magazines = fit flush, but have had no issues

M1/M14 Mags (Checkmate) 20/25 round magazines = good, flush fit, and I like best because empty mags does not allow bolt to go forward so you know you have to reload. can be pricey.

Magpul PMAG LR/SR 10/20/25 round magazines = good, but mag moves around alot inside of magwell

Lancer L7 AWM 25 round mags = good, nice flush fit, but very pricey

Hexmag AR150 mags = good, just released, slight movement in mag when seated in rifle - not issues feeding or firing

I have not used any Sprigfield or KCI mags so cant comment.
