Additional information:
sniper proofed and accepted but not drilled and tapped for a scope mount, "accuracy rifles".
These were purpose-made rifles, but what exactly that purpose was - and/or who exactly they were made for - isn't known.
Most likely the Soviet Mosin version of a U.S. National Match or other target version of the '03 Springfield. Perhaps as marksmanship/sniper training rifles, or for use in situations and environments (cold, wet, rough, all of the above) where a scope was not desirable or practical.

This is a scarce an desirable rifle, folks. Manufactured to sniper standards and marked with the famous "cn" sniper proof to show that it passed the required accuracy tests. And in one of the beautiful and sought after laminated stocks!

Shortly after this rifle was made, Hitler took his Panzer divisions out for a Sunday drive on the highway to Moscow and Stalingrad, so you know this thing saw combat, and/or trained the snipers who did. This is a piece of Mosin sniper history, folks! If you were going through a bunch of greasy Greek returned 1903 Springfields and saw a National Match rifle in the pile for little more than the cost of a standard rifle, would you get it?
