I shot my Remington 700 SPS tactical in 308 at Los Altos rod and gun. I found the steel cased ammo (WPA) was firing normally, but once I switched to brass (federal 150 grain soft point 308 win), I could not eject the round. This happened to all the federal brass. I had to get a tool to hit the bolt hard to pull the bolt back to eject. never had this happen before

thoughts?

That steel cased ammo...does it have some type of coating? Check the brass for any specific scratches or markings that are consistent after being ejected? Take a look at your extractor as well. I've never personally shot steel cased ammo out of my bolt guns however those would be things I would look for right away.

My guess is that the steel cased ammo doesn't expand as much as brass, and some blow-by carbon was getting in the chamber area. When you switched to brass, it expands more and was getting stuck on the carbon.

Next time try brass first, steel cased second.

I'm thinking the lacquer is your issue as well.
This happened to my AR in 5.45x39.

I don't get why people buy a precision rifle then proceed to shoot crappy ammo out of it. Save the Wolf ammo for your AK.
