P6's are not on the DOJ list. P225's are. I got straight from a person in the Bureau of Firearms via a phone call.

P6's need to be submitted by the importer for certification.

That's going to be a big surprise to Turner's and all those who bought their P6's from them.

P6 is a Sig 225. P6 is just the german police designation-- Walther P5, Sig P6, HK P7.

Maybe someday Turners will carry the trade-in P8s but will have to jump through hoops to be able to sell it; somebody will have to tell DOJ its just a USP.

That is a good deal. I paid AIM $385 for mine last year.

so what's the consensus on whether these are dros-able as P6's?

so what's the consensus on whether these are dros-able as P6's?

If they don't say P225 on them, IMHO they're not sellable in CA (other than via PPT).

If they say P225 on them and also have a secondary P6 marking for whatever German agency wanted them, that's fine - as long as no parts other than P225 parts that were on the CA-approved, Rostered P225s are present - i.e, if Germans wanted some part made outta different material, or different spring tensions, etc. than those of the CA-approved P225s.

The P225-also-with-P6 markings situation would be similar to me having a P225 engraved with "Big Bill's Little Gun" and selling it to an FFL for his inventory and later resale in CA. That supplemental engraving marking is irrelevant to Rostering.

One concern I do have: a Euro butt mag release on a P225 would definitely make it non-Rostered, as US Sig P22X guns have mag catch button midway up the left side of the grip. Is the P6 version of the P225 a Euro gun with Euro-style heel mag release, or is it the same as US P225s??

Edited to add: just looked at the pic in the link from orig poster. It's indeed a US mag release.

thanks Bill.

I can't tell from the pic whether these have P225 anywhere on them. Has anyone actually ordered from this site before?

Call them up and ask them to physically inspect one for P225 markings.

(IIRC, Dan's Ammo/Dan's Sporting Goods is another vendor selling these too.)

Even if truly marked P225, I'd hope these are all consistently marked. Mfgrs do funky things for short production batches.

I also can't tell from the pic but they do list the pistol as "CA Legal".

I picked up a P6 today from a private party sale after the DROS wait. No P225 markings anywhere. It is an 85-88% gun. Definite holster wear and even a thumb snap mark right around the ejection port. Has Redmond, WA on the frame. NW on the slide and a date of 9/81. The barrel is almost new. Very slight marking/wear on top from the slide.

The only problem I have with the gun is the magazine base plate extension. It digs into my pinky finger. If I find a few more mags for it (they also are marked P6 on the base plate), I''ll probably bend the extension downward or cut it off flush. Otherwise it is a great gun and puts me two away from completeing my Sig 'collection'.

Thank to you guys I bought a P225 from that site. :P

I sure do hope it's CA legal as written on that website, if not, they are gonna have some explaining to do. I hate how the mags are going for $30 for anything other than Promag.

My P6 has the mag release behind the trigger on the left side. I have never seen the heel mag except on the old 220's. Also has no 225 marking's. 375 from Turners and the thing was almost new. I got really lucky. The one in the case was a beater and my boy Henry found one in the back that was a gem. one of my favorite guns. Now for the Nils wood grips.

I got the following email when I asked them about this issue:

"From our discussions with the Attorney General, it was concluded that as long as the BOX says p225 it was okay. The guns themselves say p6, the boxes are marked as p225 and p6, with serial number of the weapon. They are logged out from us as p6/p225 and you can ask your FFL dealer to do the same."

Turners has been selling these for a few years. $450 regularly, $380 when on sale. I've handled a few of them. The guns say P6 on them and typically come in a blue hard plastic case.

So where can I get OEM boxes for CA approved guns? Anyone have documentation other than a "conversation" about the box situation? For CA gun owners, this could turn out to be as good as the OLL movement.

I DROSed my P225 at Roger's Relics without a hitch. In fact Lisa said she's transferred a ton of these.

One word of caution, the quality of the P225 from Military Gun Supply wasn't what I expected. I ordered one of their arsenal refinishes and the gun looked pretty beat up.

If anyone is looking for a cheap shooter, I'd recommend going to AIM and buying it for $259. If someone wants a gem, I've heard nothing but good things from Dan's Ammo Grade 1.

Interesting, so what's important is what is on the box, not the gun. This would have helped when I tried to DROS that P229 in (satin nickel) and the FFL refused to DROS it. The gun said P229 but the box said P229-SN. I should have just sent a plain P229 box to the dealer before he shipped it to my transfer dealer and avoided the hassle

You need to find a new FFL or better yet get your own. :D

Out of curiosity, what did they charge for all the transferring? I'm seriously thinking of picking one of these up, but have heard my local gun shop(City Arms in Pacifica) charges an arm and a leg for this(I'll verify tomorrow when I'm in there).
