Preaching to the choir I know...

More than likely Washington D.C. is in the top 4 but was excluded because it is not legally a city. This list is proof positive that GUN CONTROL leads to a drastically higher murder rate. The strictest gun control laws in the country are in Chicago, New York, Detroit, Washington D.C. and yet they consistently lead the country in Murder and other violent crime. Criminals will get a gun regardless of whether or not it is illegal just like they can get drugs with ease regardless of decades of prohibition. All gun bans do is make it impossible for law abiding citizens to defend themselves.

Those are also all some of the biggest cities in the country. Sheer amount of murders means almost nothing at all.

Murder per Capita is a more relevant statistic...

2011 from Wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_cities_by_crime_rate)(be sure to sort the table on murder)

2012 from policymic (http://www.policymic.com/articles/22686/america-s-10-deadliest-cities-2012)
