from NY Times:

Mr. Morse’s hand was on the tiller during much of that debate. A former police chief, he said he found himself in a position of not just rounding up votes, but actually explaining the mechanics of guns to fellow Democrats. He brought a magazine to show his colleagues how it worked. In an emotional speech in March, as the debate reached its peak, Mr. Morse stood on the Senate floor and spoke of gun violence and “cleansing a sickness from our souls.”

Looks like Colorado cleansed the sickness from their souls.

Yes. Good news.

Now, can this help create and support momentum in other races to replace anti-Constitution candidates with pro-Rights choices?

Maybe ...

It's unfortunate that we as Californian's cannot follow suit, however I don't have much confidence in our voting public.

(I've written politicos in other states, either denouncing restrictions and praising firearm policies before their legislatures. Too bad we cannot muster a National effort. Since politicos seldom listen to their own constituents, highly unlikely out-of-staters have much clout---except maybe in numbers).

Respectfully

California Recall Procedures

NUMBER OF SIGNATURES REQUIRED

2. State Senators, Members of the Assembly, Members of the Board of Equalization, and Judges of the Courts of Appeal.
The number of signatures needed on the petition to recall State Senators, Members of the Assembly, Members of the Board of Equalization and Judges of Courts of Appeal, must equal at least twenty percent (20%) of the last vote for the office.(Cal.Const., Art. II, Sec. 14(b); 11221)

In order to recall someone like Darrell Steinberg, a recall effort would need to gather about 44,978 validated signatures from Senate District 6. His current term Senate expires next year in 2014.

Senate District 6 - Candidates Votes Election Year 2010
Darrell Steinberg (D) 137,012
Marcel Weiland (R) 70,724
Steve Torno (L) 11,236
Lanric Hyland (Peace and Freedom) 5,916

Total votes cast = 224,888 (20% = 44,978)

Wrong forum for this thread. This is the 2nd A litigation forum.

This thread is about non-CA 2nd A politics/political activism.

Wrong forum for this thread. This is the 2nd A litigation forum.

This thread is about non-CA 2nd A politics/political activism.

That's not how I read it.

The forum title is: 2nd Amend. Litigation Updates & Legal Discussion

The use of the conjunction "and" means we can read the title as saying that this forum is about:

2nd Amend. Litigation Updates

and this forum is also about:

Legal Discussion

Alternatively, this forum could be about 2nd Amend. Litigation Updates and 2nd Amend. Legal Discussion.

Alternatively, this forum could be about 2nd Amend. Litigation Updates and 2nd Amend. Litigation Legal Discussion (imo, this is the only reading under which this thread should be moved)

In any event, the recall of these two anti-2A politicians is the greatest news we've had in quite a while. For those of us suffering in CA, especially given yesterday, it's a MUCH needed breath of fresh air.

This will have national ramifications:

Elected officials of all types (from Senators to Sheriffs) on the fence will lean towards protecting the 2A.
Elected officials of all types against the 2A will look to soften their stance.
Voters elsewhere will consider recalls, possibly leading to the elimination of more anti-2A politicans.
National committees will look more carefully at the 2A stance of the candidates they are choosing to endorse
The pro-2A side got to destroy 350,000 of Bloomberg's money, and millions of dollars of anti-2A money! :D
etc

Thank you, voters of CO

This is great news! Now, how can this positively effect us less fortunate here in CA? Also, what can we do cumulatively to move in a positive direction for ourselves?

If Colorado can get rid of 2 idiotic senators that don't know anything about following the constitution, there's a bunch of idiots in California that NEED TO GET OUT!!

After Newtown the Democrat leadership in the Colorado legislature pretty much declared "We don't need no stinkin' sheriff's input on gun control legislation." The law was passed with little or no direct input from local law enforcement professionals as opposed to gun control activists and appointed bureaucrats. And why not? The pundits were for it. The media coverage was positive. The activists were pouring money into the issue. Obama himself came and spoke for gun control while surrounded by (all politically appointed) police chiefs and police cadets.

Recall isn't enough punishment for their bashing of the constitution. I am sure the politicians have received their reward for the anti gun bill $$$$. I am happy they at least were recalled.

Ok so the Senators were recalled, Did it change any of the anti-2A laws that they passed? Are they still on the books? What will happen to those laws? As far as I know they are nott being recalled.

Turnout was incredibly low – the lowest in those districts since a 2011 statewide tax referendum. In both districts, turnout was more than 20 points lower than 2012 turnout, from 56.6% to 35.7% in SD-03 and from 41.5% to 21.3% in SD-11.

So what will happen in the next general election with a higher turnout?

And unless the laws get reversed, those elected are no better than those who were recalled.
