Looking for a decent stock cuff for my 870 that still gives me a comfortable cheek weld. Preferably hold 6 shells or so. What the current latest and greatest?

Here are a couple. The top one has a padded cheek weld. These should work well with one or two point slings, but probably won't work well with three point sling types.

I'll probably get one of these when my inexpensive all-elastic ones wear out.

The spectre tactical one looks a lot like the bottom photo preceding this post. definitely holds the shells. it is supposed to be part of the mount for some kind of tactical sling, but I just use a 2 pt GI sling or aftermarket padded hunting sling off of the original pin studs, myself.

not as comfy looking as that eagle industries one though, but you can't make it slip off.

Thanks exactly what I was looking for. How is the specter one when shooting, is the front strap irritating at all?

I found it distracting when I shot a round of trap with my house defense SG (using a longer bbl I have), but not so much physically irritating. You might want to buy one of each. The spectre one will sell easily. I cannibalized a sling kit to get mine..so it cost me more as I was not able to sell the rest of it.

10x better than a receiver mounted side-saddle though. Also the butt-cuff is CA compliant as its use is referenced in CA penal code / game and fish regs.

Ya I'm not a fan of the receiver mounted ones. I'll probably just get both at that price point and sell one off like you suggested.

Actually, I have a Spectergear on my 870, along with a Spectergear three-point sling. It works very well. I just had to make sure I didn't have my cheek on the forward strap's buckle.
