In a belt fed gun, 1919, SAW, RPD, MG42 etc, with all other legal issues resolved,is a box mounted on the gun, with a 10 round belt coming out of it legal? Think RPD drum or a SAW box. The box can hold a lot, but you just put a 10 rnd belt into it and you ONLY OWN 10 rnd belts. What do you smart guys think? I figured if the ammo can on the side of a 1919 mount was legal, isn't this the same thing?

The box is an ammunition carrier.
The link/belt is an ammunition feeding device.
You should be able to have "n" amount of ammo in the can... but you can ONLY have 10 rounds linked.

That's what I figured, but none of the suppliers of RPD kits will send the drum, even without the links. Companies can have their own policies, it's just a bummer as has been discussed before. Now I'll have to pay top dollar for someone who understands the law to send me a drum and hack a belt in 10 round segments. I tell you, all you have to do is be out of state and do a little research and have a tidy business......as some are already. Still don't want to move though.;)
