The Prec / Tac Rifle class is confirmed for Jan 19 & 20, 2008 for the first and second days and Feb 1, 2008 for the third day.

To date the following parties have paid either their deposit or in full and are confirmed:

Pistolpete75
Wildcard
rksimple

hypertex
ar15barrel
cypress32
mevale

We have room for five more people for a full class. If you are interested in this class contact me ASAP and make arrangments regarding the deposit so your place can be reserved.

For those already reserved I will be emailing an equipment list and brief overveiw possibly as early as tonight. The weather looks like it will be good for next weekend so this should be a very enjoyable class. We will be checking zeroes at the beginning of the shooting portion of the class on Saturday (like last time) so if you have new equipment, load etc no worries.

If anyone has any questions PM or email me or come out to APS this weekend as I'll be there both Sat and Sunday.

Will ice cold refreshments and BBQ be served? Also, will there be benches? I don't want to get my bunny ears dirty on the ground :)

Ice cold refreshments might not be needed. Warm liquid refreshments may be more important. If we can make a little fire ring, I'll bring a dutch oven.

just talked to my dad, and looks like it's a go. only issue is that the group is locked. i can't allow any more people. there is a neighbor that complains about the noise, and my father put a limit on it for his political issues. class is locked for saturday classes, but sunday is open.

unless you guys want to blm it for the saturdays, then there is no limit.

So does that mean the class is cancelled for Saturday(s)?

Or is the existing group still on for Saturday unless more people are added and we have to BLM it?

If possible, maybe we should BLM the entire class to avoid any issues/ hassles or adverse action toward your dad.

saturday is still good at my dad's place but i can't bring no more guys than what is posted above. too much political drama at my dad's place. it's not about the liability. i'm not worried about that.

honestly, the blm idea would be better. but shooting at my dad's place is also good for saturday shooting.

I've had no other emails re this class so I see no issue with locking it to the ones that are already listed since they reserved the spots. I would like to have a saftey briefing at 0850 and start the class around 0900 but would like to meet with Pistolpete75, Wildcard, and rksimple around 0800 to 0815 to set up and go over the evelutions for the day.

Ok were is everyone staying?

2- I dont have 200rounds of ammo. I only have 175 or so, I left 25 at randys house when he tested the rifle

3- No way in hell am i carry water and 175rounds of heavy 30-06.
Thats like carry 300 rounds of 308 with 175gr bullets.

4- Couldnt get my loads cronnied in time.

5- Couldnt get a sling in time

6- What do I need to expect? It eather my 308 pratice rifle, or the 30-06 beast. We shooting sub 500 yards or past?

PistolPete75

works for me too.

cypress, my loads are not chroned too, and i'm actually going to use a load that i think will work well. it's just a guess. bring as much as ammo as you can. no worries.

just bring what you have, and you'll be fine. i would take whatever rifle you can shoot better with.

i don't think we will be shooting submoa targets.

Any details the location where we are shooting?
Directions on how to get there?
Elevation to work up range cards?

Is it within an hours drive of the LA basin?
Will a hotel really be necessary?

We can use the BLM land where we went before. Its abit harder to setup targets, but we can manage. We'll just have to get there early to hike and setup targets in different areas.

I'm guessing the ranges would tack on a additional cost and wouldn't offer us the versatility we need. Plus then we would be limited to the hours of operation.. distraction from line breaks.. etc. BLM should work as drive time and terrain will be similar.

If I recall correctly.. Desert Marksman in Vegas is a private range requiring membership.

There are many places out there where we can shoot. We were shooting uphill that last time. We can move up to where the target was and shoot down at many other places along the desert floor there. We can also turn around and shoot uphill, or down to the other side to get a different wind condition. We're going to need to get out there early, maybe the day before, and setup some targets. I have some radios we'll use and have one person up top at the shooting position, and a couple setting the targets. We can conceal them to some extent as well.

You can camp out there as well. Hold on, I have to go do a filling, I'll be right back.

However it needs to be done. Let me get some input from twolf on how he wants the targets and I may be able to go out there on friday and setup a few. There are a few camping spots with level ground close by. Temps should be in the low 40's overnight. The closest big town is 15 minutes away from this location. 5 or 10 minutes down the road is a little convenience store with most necessities.

There are many possibilities out there, I just need to know what everyone wants.

Lastly since I've not been out there before can I meet one or two or all of you three somewhere and follow you in?

It's almost hard to find any shooting related products that are NOT up 20% this year. :(
My guess is that a lot of it has to do with the dollar effecting US prices of imported goods and some of the companies eating the difference over the last couple years until they just can't take it any more.
We are seeing a "market adjustment"...

I appreciate the offer but I'm also hoping to get some service calls scheduled for this weekend so I can make enough to pay the rent this month. I'm an onsite computer technician and the holidays were a little slim. I bought the airline tickets for the trip to mexico back in april of last year and my wife was covering all the other expenses of the trip, but now I need to buckle down and generate some more business or look for full time job someplace. I'm 1099'd but most of my work comes from Computer Simplistics. Unfortunately the owner owes me almost 5 figures. I've gotten her to agree to get all calls I go on to write the checks out to me but it's going to take a while to make up that almost 10 grand. I haven't been shooting since the last event back in september at Pete's dad's place.

Nope. I'm going with my father in law, and I doubt he wants to be waiting around while I shoot. Plus, I'm only going for one day to shot so I'll need as much time as possible.

Heck, I really don't want to shoot my Savage much anymore anyway. After shooting so many customs and other nice rifles, I feel like I'm fighting my rifle to get it to shoot well. My R+D should be done soon...I hope.

One shooting area, multiple target areas is the way I have it staked out. That way we'll have a solid shooting position to get our dope. After that I guess we could move around. Most all of the other shooting positions would be improvised.

We could really use a quad. I was a little tired just hiking to mark it all out. There are a lot of ups and downs. Alternatively, there is a road that parallels the canyon where we'll be shooting. We can load up the targets and drive as close as we can, then hike the rest for each target.

We need to get the targets up to about chest level in a couple spots to be able to se them. We may want to bring some clippers to get rid of some juniper in areas.

Jicko, You get an PSS and an Mark4 right?
Thats got SUB MOA all over it!

Need AMMO too. I am still fine tuning my reloading process and recipe. Also I would need to get my PSS checked. Currently, all I get is roughly 1MOA, which is.... NOT good enough.

You guys have fun and take a LOT of pictures.

Just got back. I don't think anyone took any pics. We were too busy figuring out what was wrong with and zeroing a few of the rifles.

Jicko-1 moa would have served you just fine today.

Sounds like you guys had fun :whistling: But I'm glad I didn't make it since I made $350 on service calls. Hopefully tomorrow can be more productive for you guys.

Pete-you should see the 660 yard target. It has hits all over the bottom 1/3 of it that we couldn't see.

it was wondering why i could hit a 1/2moa shot at 830yards, and i couldn't hit a 2 1/2moa target at 660yards. i feel better now.
