Nice new 16.5 inch 308. Then I remembered how much I hate the recoil in a light 308....and put it back down.

I admit I'm a big wussy. I can shoot a 308 all day but to take 50 or 60 carefully aimed shoots for score, it's too much for me. I'll keep my 6BR.

after i replaced the flash hider with a brake (http://precisionarmament.com/product/m11-muzzle-brake/), the kick is a non-issue for me now. i shoot at least 100 rounds when i go to the outdoor range now and it doesn't leave a mark and i don't even feel it the next day. it's a fun little gun, i'd still recommend you get it!

Hope you asked his scoutmaster if it was ok, first...

I fondled a ruger 308 scout last year... Didnt like the bolt movement side to side when all the way back... I was thinking binding on return... Anyone else ???? My other bolt actions dont have that kind of play in them... I also put down and moved on... My .02.... Cheers.

Mosin Nagant's are notorious for having bolt wobble and don't really have any binding issues on return, as far as I know. There may be a few out there that bind a bit, but I'm sure a little bit of time with a tiny file would make things work again.

I have put a good amount of thought into getting a Ruger scout rifle, and the problem is for $500 or so more I can get a M&P10 which is a WAY WAY better gun.

I own one. It's not an issue. Just different and the action is easily run to effect. Some have required some break in time. Given the price point compared to other very expensive scouts, that isn't an issue either.

I shot my friend's Scout. Great gun!! Accurate, handy, reliable, powerful and painful...

Yup, I'm a puss.
