I see a removeable panel on the bottom of the rifle and was wondering if that is to convert for removeable magazines.

Is there an upside?
Has anyone done this?

Thanks

That is probably your fixed magazine trapdoor for unloading the mag without cycling it through the chamber.
The release will be in the trigger guard.

Push the release and you will learn more about how your rifle works...

Short answer yes.

My question is unless you're shooting matches where you need to shoot 10 rounds why convert it?

This will set you up. Apparently the .300 WinMag magazines are easily adaptable to take the .30-06 round, but you want the metal ones not a plastic one.
