I just picked up some guns from my grandfather, I'm giving them a good cleaning because its been at least 5 years and most likely 10+ since they were used or cleaned. The barrel bushing on an auto ordinance 1911 will not rotate at all by hand. Is there a makeshift tool I can use to get it to do so?

thanks

There are bushing wrenches to help with tight bushings. If the pistol uses a collet type bushing, you might try to unlock the slide back some and then try to turn the bushing, assuming there isn't a full length guide rod on it.

Soak it in Kroil or similar penetrating oil for a day or two while your locating a bushing wrench.

Lock the slide back. Start w/ a plastic bushing wrench & Kroil or PB Blaster. You can escalate to an aluminum or steel wrench if needed.

+1 on the Kroil oil, it works great for that type of thing
