Canadian retards gave the afgan national army 2.5K C7 rifles (M-16 clone). Canadian experts say,"the AK currently used by teh afgans is unreliable and frequently leaves the soldiers vulnerable. "

Sorry, but I'm a little confused, (like usual) is that a bad thing?

How is this a bad thing? The M16 is not a good insurgent weapon. I'd consider it only suitable for professional armies with support and training to keep them running. If insurgents get them, I doubt too many of our guys will be seeing them from the wrong end.

The US has a long history of giving guns to people so they will shoot the people we want them too.

In any case I'd rather give them M16s than SAMs.

If an ak47 is unreliable... I think they are in for a surprise.

30 years of combat without maintenance might make an AK unreliable.

OK I'll bite,

First I don't understand them saying the AK's are unreliable, inaccurate yes, but unreliable? no.

Remember, they are giving them to the Afgan National Army, true not an Army like our by no means, or any professional army, but they are not the insurgents, the Afgan National army is on our side, (for now atleast ) and I would hope to think as long as we are there and relying on them to help us fight the Insurgents and Taliban (bad guys), I would like to see them equipped with a weapon that is accurate and reliable, now of course they will need to stay up on them to keep them running, and hopefully they will get the proper training by the Canadians to do so, it's amazing how resourceful or adaptable some third world army's can be, even when given a high teck or sophisticated weapon that many don't think they will be able to use due to it's sophistication.

And yes it is possible that some will end up in the hands of bad guys, but I think it's a risk that we need to take, the insurgents (bad guys) have an endless supply of AK's and they seem to have no problem killing our or the Canadian soldiers with them, they would probably prefer to stay with their AK's since they don't have the proper training or support to keep them running.

Aslo remember if we hadn't given the Afgans the Stinger missile, all of this would be moot, because it would be a Russian puppet state right now. it wasn't till the Afgans started taking down Russian helicopters, that the Russians thought they might loose their war and it later resulted in the Russians pulling out, I think it they can operate the stingers, they'll figure out the M-16.

With 20/20 hind sight, maybe we should have helped the russians.

So we are expecting the ANA to defend their country against the Taliban and Al Qaeda, and rebuild the country so we can take less of a role in it, and it is a bad thing that we give them weapons that work? I don't get it. People scream to get troops home and stop the war, but we can't just up and leave...

Yes it does, until some one comes along with a gun.

And thats why they didn't want to give them stingers, many folks swore they would be shooting down our airliners left and right.

There is nothing wrong with Canadians giving ANA weapons. It is just there are couple points about this that raises eyebrow.
Unreliable AK is an oxymoron. Giving ANA rifle chambered in 5.56 surely will raise logistical issues.

So it just while nothing is wrong here per se, there is something strange about this story.

Reliable AK is an urban legend. Sure they are reliable for the most part, but these are the same AK's that these guys have been shooting for the past 30+ years for the most part. A cleaning kit isn't as easy to come by in the rural mountains of Afghanistan as it is here. No machine, I don't care how reliable it is, can survive those kind of conditions forever. We only shoot our weapons maybe once a month. They probably shoot them every other day. Reliability doesn't last forever.

:TFH:

An AK does not need a cleaning kit. Motor oil and a string would probably work.

Fal, after 13500 with out cleaning it was thrown in a water puddle similar to the video, water drained and 3000 more rounds fired thru it. Sure I'll take a M16:rolleyes:
