Excellent collection! Now I have something to shoot for (no pun intended) I especially like your US stuff. I have a 1948 Mosin-Nagant M44 & a 1951 Russian SKS. My next purchase will be a K98 and M1 Carbine. I also want a Garand and a Springfield M1903. I'll post pics someday.

Thanks for sharing your collection!

What would you buy first Swiss K31, Egyptian Hakim or Eddystone M1917?

I like the look of mwarren2's Eddystone.

Received my second M44 today. Actually marked M44US(a) Serial 140xxx (early 1944), blued, drilled and tapped and in excellent condition. Both safety indicators present, although the green one was loose in the shipping carton and the trigger guard just slightly shrunken. Bore is mirror and looks little used. Bolt operates very smoothly and is electro-penciled with a "4" on the case hardened handle. I'm mounting a Simmons 22 Mag 3-9X32 A/O with a Havlin mount and a set of Weaver medium quad-lock rings. One of the two will be going to my son.

Here's some pics:

Wow, there are some really nice rifles pictured in this thread! I love that the first set all have bayonets included. I'd love to get matching bayos for mine, but the prices are just going crazy on those things :(

NICE Collection! What did you use on your K98K stock to clean it up? Is that an RC?

mwarren2
12-16-2008, 1:05 PM
Thanks 5aa12. It's a non-matching 1940 code 42 RC that I acquired from Dennis at Empire Arms over a year ago. Has all the markings untouched and cartouched buttstock. I used denatured alcohol to clean up the stock.

Thats what I used on my K98s too (DNA). It takes a lot of time and elbow grease but its well worth it once you get all of the Russian shelac off. As with yours there are often Waffenamps and cartouches galore on the stocks that you cant see until you clean them up correctly. I use Balistol to re-condition the wood after its cleaned. I will have to post some pics of my ladies soon.

What kind of scope and mount do you have on your K-31? I am looking to scope one of mine. I like the cheekpad! The stick of Riemenwachs is a nice touch too.

SwissFlu, thanks for the compliment. The scope is a Nikon ProStaff 3-9X40 with a St Marie's clamp on mount. Rock solid. The cheekpad is available from Czechmauseritis (Pete Ogden) on the Swiss Rifles Board. See here: http://theswissriflesdotcommessageboard.yuku.com/topic/3818
