I am thinking about buying a DTA SRS. Is there a length requirement for this rifle to be transferred into CA?

BTW, I reviewed the flowchart ... and didn't find anything that limits the DTA SRS from coming into CA.

Great rifles and you can have them in CA (even the covert model if you are rocking a couple of buttstock spacers or have the muzzle brake on it- I think it is right at the 26" mark with the 308 conversion). If you want the new A1, you might be waiting a bit, but can pick up a gen I and gen II for a decent deal. Snipers hide has a long thread dedicated to the system und bolt action rifles should you have any additional questions.

Because the flow chart is for semi auto centerfire rifles, and the DTA SRS is a bolt action, so other than the typical federal requirements there is no issue other than how CA measures OAL(with a stock folded/collapsed, vs. feds with a stock extended) as long as the rifle is 26" long with a minimum barrel length of 16". Only things stopping you from getting one in CA would be finding one, and maybe your wallet.

I just picked up a DTA SRS-A1. It's setup in 308 right now, and I have a 338 conversion on order. The fit and finish on the rifle is very good, as well as the trigger. Just need some glass...

I'm jealous. I ordered mine about a month before they announced the A1 so I'm stuck with all that extra useless rail and no cheek riser.

The grip angle looks very similar to the H&K MR762, similar thickness to. Wonder if it was copied from it.

Similar with the palm swell, but not the same.

If your gen2 is after late 2012 production, there is a good chance that the chassis already has the milling done to accept the new cheek riser. Just remove the covering and look at where the riser would sit. In that case, you can buy the pieces from DTA some time soon to add cheek riser to your gen2.

You can also buy the new A1 style handguard to replace the gen2 handguard soon.

All these are extra costs though.

Yeah, but I think they're definitely worthwhile upgrades though. How would I check for the cheek piece? Do I have to break it open and look at the inside of the chassis?

I've had my A1 on order since March. I couldn't wait and bought a used Gen2 used. All models covert. If my A1 ever shows up in the next couple months I may sell my Gen2 covert. But everything said in this thread is true. These guns are impossible to get. 1+ year wait for a new one. I'm all over the hide, and a few DTA's sold recently. There was a Gen1 that remains unsold on the hide and I think the seller gave up.

Yes, you have to take the outer "skin" apart. Call DTA and they will walk you through.

I heard that DTA will be catching up on their orders in September. So my A1 order might just show up soon! 8)
