I am bringing my M14 to try and kill the clonepoint with heat and recoil. I may also but a couple of boxes of BH to mess around with the remmy. I'm not going to load any rounds till my lapua brass arrives.

i still have a long wait on my scope. i hear it may take up to 8months! ouch. if it's going to take that long, i'll probably end up putting my mark 4 for breaking in.

Newly assembled? What you do to it? Did you ever get the trigger installed back on? I think there was one occasion where I was supposed to slap it back on but then it slipped from our minds..

ya i got the stock trigger back on, and put the hs stock off my .308 on the .223.

the other short action has been trued, but i'm in debate over a barrel and stock right now. i'm leaning towards a match select shilin light or heavy varmint contour in .308 with a 1:11 twist or a schneider. if i don't have money, i'll just bed my hs stock. if i have money, i'll probably go with an a5.

match select shilins are the straightest barrels, and easiest to machine. schneider's are supposed to last over 10k rounds!

Why consider a light contour? Plan on carrying it around? I personally prefer the A4 stock over the A5.. the slimmer forend is a lot more comfortable when position shooting for me.

Either setup.. you can still bed the action into the stock :)

i've done the math, and i think my r+d rifle with my 35mm scope will end up being like 20lbs. great for prone, but i might have a hard time shooting the unsupported positions with accuracy. for comptition shooting, it'll probably be a better choice. barrel never gets a chance to go too hot in competitions, so the heavy barrels really don't have an extra edge. plus, i don't need two exact rifles. i hear you can get the mcmillan stocks down to like 5/6 pounds.

gotta run to antelope valley. see you guys later.

I got a 5.5 contour Bartlein from GAP. They had it in stock and ready to go. That should make for a well balanced feel. You can try it when its done.
