All six have been taken to the hospital.

At least two people are believed to have participated in the shooting. Police have not said whether the shooters were on foot or in a vehicle.

They are finally going to ban criminals? Nice...

They can make all the laws they want to, but these types of events will continue. Instead of making new gun laws, maybe they should work on stricter sentencing for criminals.

I thought shooting people was illegal? We should make guns illegal. That will fix this!

i like china's approach. as soon as the trial is over they take them out to a field and shoot them. no appeals, no 25 years on deathrow, just dead.

Folks, this is North Las Vegas.

Various concentrated areas there are not dissimilar to Oakland, East Palo Alto or East LA. It's just a crap area.

I agree with you but the Constitution mucks up China and your idea.

Cruel and unusual punishment is prohibited by the U.S. Constitution as well as some state constitutions. The U.S. Constitution's Eighth Amendment states: "Excessive bail shall not be required, nor excessive fines imposed, nor cruel and unusual punishments inflicted."

The defendant has the burden of proving that his punishment is greater than that imposed for more serious offenses in the state and that similar offenses in other states do not carry punishments as severe. Critics of the death penalty argue that it constitutes cruel and unusual punishment. The issue of cruel and unusual punishment often arises in claims of prisoner mistreatment by officials.

I watch Fox News, and they seem to be throwing a pro-gun message out. The lady security guard that whacked the idiot in Colorado is getting significant attention. Too bad that jerk O'Reilly is anti-gun. He's the only talking head on Fox that seems anti-gun at all. Of course there's Geraldo, but he's keeping his mouth shut on gun issues.

Don't be to sure. Recently the homicide rate in LA County has reached 733 this year. It has been higher. That's typical of big counties and cities. Why do a couple of attempts make the news? Although not perfect Nevada is a pretty gun friendly state. The left is going to have a hard time getting a ban through at the federal level.

The story is unfortunate, but typical media hype. I'd say liberals running metro areas are a dismal failure, maybe we should ban them.

Doesn't Vegas have stricter gun laws than the rest of Nevada anyway ?

That is my concern as well.

Remember that most of the major media spoke holes are slanted towards the Dem's, liberals, Utopia, The Welfare State, Socialism etc.

Law Abiding, Constitution Loving Gun Owners ruin their dreams of world domination...

North Las Vegas is worse than Las Vegas. Even offduty Vegas cops get hassled in North Las Vegas for carrying, from what I hear.

Funy thing is...you never hear calls for a ban on testicles after a large increase in teabagging instances at college campuses during pledge week

Clark county has handgun registration with that cool blue card you have to carry everywhere. North Las Vegas is one of the cities that must be safer than most of the rest of the county and state because you have to lock your handgun where you can't reach it while in your car. They even hassle CHL holders if they don't have their handguns in a holster on their person. It's not ok there to take your pistol out of you waistband or holster and place it on the seat or in the door for comfort while you drive.

guess what there still is crime there. hmm I wonder why their strict laws didn't work. There is a death penalty on drug dealing, yet China is experiencing a rise in drug use. Case and point laws are stupid and don't work.

...because without a defenseless nanny fear mongering socialist liberal state (whew), there are no victims, and if there are no victims, there is no news (drama).

Perhaps the marketing slogan of the new millenium should read "Drama sells"

Maybe it's because for most Chinese, living in China is hell, and death is preferable.

Excellent point, Bill. Unfortunately the media is going to down play that little detail or just omit it altogether in an attempt to make gun ownership be the culprit.

The problem is that sh*t heads that go around shooting up schools end up turning the guns on themselves. Laws that prohibit such crimes do absolutely nothing to deter them, no matter how strict they are. The best deterent is a well armed society capable preventing such masacres. (I know, I'm preaching to the choir here).

too bad that happened in the first place.

but it all seems rather coincidental that all these shootings are happening just before an election. something to think about.

i won't be surprised if a gun ban is right aroun corner.

The law mechanism that rises up and deflects bullets is broken right now. Please try again later or just make a new law.
