View Full Version : Doracoat then Krylon

First, will MEK remove duracoat? I was thinking of duracoating my action and barrel once I get my gun rebuilt then kryloning on the camo so if I decide to I can change it.
Would that be a problem?

I dont think it will.
Duracoat and Alumi-hyde are both very tough, gun scrubber, hoppes, break cleaner, carb cleaner, no worries.
You need a strong paint stripper to peel it off. I am in the process right now.

Duracoat is just polyurethane paint. MEK will remove/damage the coating if you leave a concentrated amount on the surface longer than a few seconds. It will also lift the coating at an edge or scratch. Try leaving some blue loctite on the painted surface and see what happens ;). Acetone or lacquer thinner would be a better choice for removing Krylon.
