Isn't Oregon a free state? :D I'd bet that almost any gunstore up that way would carry alot more stuff that you'd be looking for than the gunshow down here.

For one, I see that Miwall is listed as going to Vallejo and not San Jose.

In Antioch the week after the Vallejo gun show.
That might be closer for some.

Kids are allowed. Not sure if there is a fee or a discount.

You would hope it would be free for kids....get new blood into the shooting sports.

I'll be there. Either Saturday or Sunday.

I assume you're driving through Ashland, Medford & Grants Pass - you'll definitely want to stop at Sportmans Wherehouse on Crater Lake Road in Medford. About 2 minutes off I - 5 North. You could fit a Cabelas inside the darn thing. If you're there in the AM try the Windham Diner - their "light" breakfast is bisquits & gravy, gives you some idea of what their regular food is like.

I have a bit of a soft spot for Fox Firearms, little shop in Grants Pass off 7th & E I think.

I'm going to skip it - too many new guns to shoot @ Chabot. The FN 49, an 8mm Mauser barreled Encore handgun and maybe the CZ 550 in 416 Rigby to sight in. Plus, it's supposed to be sunny out.

Gun shows are almost universally kid-friendly. Most have discounted or free admission for kids under a certain age, usually 12 or 15. I've been going to gun shows since I was a small child, and the only one I was not comfortable taking my own children to was one in Costa Mesa a few years back. Some of the vendors had porn on display at that one.

I took my oldest son to the Ventura show a few weeks ago, and it was fine.

One caveat: Don't expect to spend all day there. Kids get tired of standing on their feet after a couple of hours. Have a short list of tables you want to hit (i.e. go in with a plan), and make sure your kids have spending money. They'll buy horrid crap, but they'll have a good time. That's the important thing.

dunno...doubtful...wife aint coming on this trip; she's up for buying me one as I said in another thread. This trip is doo-dads, reloading components, and some real off the beaten path parts that only seem to ever show at smaller-ish shows. Maybe some ammo if the prices arn't tooooooooooo high and they sweet talk me:cool: But the reloading gear is mostly what I'm after......nearly there, and for the love of lead I better be soon! Anyone seen the prices of EVERYTHING these days? About the only thing I care to shoot these days is a friggin .22 to keep in practice...everything else is like BLAM..there's $0.37, BLAM...there's another $0.37 (Multiple that by 1000) and its just eating up the bank for how much I like to shoot:( I GOTTA get started with reloading!!!!!

Probably a stupid question but will there be AR/OLL stuff there from vendors? Like RRA, Stag, etc?

Sonoma firearms usually has ....somthing there...but many aint a fan of them (nor am I) and the occasional smaller vendor. There's two different chinese guys there usually at different booths that cetainly sell a lot of parts kits (Some legit, some Chicom no-name or NC star crap). The show's not as big (usually) as the Cow palace but is still miles above what some shows have become (or were at a couple years back). Worth it totally if you KNOW you're gonna buy something like ammo or cant wait on shipping parts...or like me...just have to actually touch/feel something before ya' buy: if you aint in those catagories--then as they say YMMV........

You'd have to take pics out in the parking lot or something anyways, a couple years ago I went to the Vallejo show and brought a backpack with my camera in it. The backpack was searched upon entry, and I was harassed about having a camera. I wasn't allowed to take any pictures inside (which was fine with me). Wearing a backpack inside of that show really bothered some people :TFH:

Really? I was going to bring a backpack as a shopping bag and a pickup from a vendor on an item I had DROS'd.

Yep. They'll let you wear it in, but they gave me attitude about it at the door. And once inside the show I had a bunch of mall ninjas asking me if I was carrying guns in it. Maybe I'm just a suspicious looking guy? :TFH::D

At the VALLEJO show? hmmmmmm. Interesting... I aint been hassled about a back pack on the times I've brought one; if the goons cant figure out its empty to start with & I'm there to fill it up with goodies-- they've got more <mornic> problems than my backpack;) But I was hassled about a backpack one time at the Cow palace as I was comming in with geear to sell/trade.....made me tag everything:rolleyes: only that one time...with the backpack...never when I walked in with a brown bag, plasic bag or crap In my hands..........

LOL I brought my backpack to the Cow Palace show once and didn't get any crap about it. The only thing that sucked was that leelaw had me carry around a case of shotgun ammo in it all day for him :p

Wearing jeans and a t-shirt right?

Everyone should print out these and wear them:

Someone needs to print out a whole stack of those on adhesive label stock and leave them at the entrance to the gunshow. ;)

LOL! Iffffffffff I could find my friggin' original OLL shirt that'd be a giveway...but then again its tooooo friggin cold for just a t-shirt anyway! But if I make it- I'm usually in a cowboy hat or baseball/NRA cap...look like I stayed up all night reading Calguns or looking for porn:p but I DO like the badge idea:)

I'll be easy to find. Look for the table with the mini .22 gatling gun project.

If thats too easy to miss, look for the m16a1 upper with the Sionics HEL silencer on it.

Along with uppers, barrels and a whole pile of misc parts pieces for God knows what.

Anyone going this weekend? I'm sure it will be better than San Jose.

With three out of four weekends gun show free in the Bay Area I have to ask who is the genius that schedules two the same weekend to compete with each other?

This sort of thing splits the sellers and buyers into two smaller groups and neither end up succeeding.

Now if they were back to back or better yet two weeks apart then you could buy at one show and pick up at the other and you would be encouraging more business for both show groups......so go figure that the folks running these shows did not eat there vegetables when they were little and sat down and threw a tantrum and belly ached with lots of crying and yelling saying "NO" when told to do their homework because they wanted to watch Huskie and Starch detective TV show.

The worse ones were those few times that the Sacramento show competed against the Cow Palace show. It really made it difficult to decide which one to go to.

Well I will see ya there folks, won't say which and will leave that a mystery for now but I expect both shows to be smaller than usual as it is the ol' divide and conquer.

I would not be surprised if next weeks Antioch show beats both this weekends show.

GOOD LUCK!

I heard all the ammo sold out in the first tow hours so the price could not have been that insane unless they let the nuts go out of Napa State Hospital.

I did hear some good new, that they were making another run for beef jerkey and beanie babies so as to not run out of those on Sunday!

So how about a report by someone, including the current ammo prices?

Miwall is the only reason I go to gun shows in CA any longer. Good prices on the slugs I need for 3-Gun and prices on primers aren't bad either (of course...it's been almost 4 years since I've been to one).

2nd gun show I have been to. I was really surprised at the prices of all the rifles, very over priced. Some guy wanted $350 for a beat up yugo SKS with the bayo missing. Shotguns seemed pretty cheap though.
