I am interested in refinishing the slide on my Walther P99 that is titanium coated. The P99 slide has some black specks which, from what I have read, is a problem with the titanium finish. I would like to keep the two-tone look and have decided on these finishes:

1) NP3 from Robar

2) Cera-Hide from CCR

3) Hard chrome from Tripp

I'd like to hear your opinions and suggestions, pros and cons. If you have something else in mind, I'd like to hear it.
Here is a pic. You can see the specks at the rear of the slide near the serrations. There is a greater number of specks on the other side of the slide and a few on the top.

What's wrong with the titanium finish?

Here's the worst of the specks. I'll try a few more cleaners and solvents before I make my decision.

Mothergreen: That is a beautiful gun. One problem with refinishing my slide would be that the slide will no longer have the Walther logo. I am really considering buying the newer version of the P99 like yours but with the AS trigger and probably in .40s&w since I already have a 9mm.

ah yeah its only printed on you would lose the logo. I lost the serial number on the slide when I got mine finished. when I first looked into p99s I wanted the ti one but was told they were no longer produced for the reasons your expierencing. so I bought a regular black p99 qa and sent it off to tripps. only shot it one time before sending it in. i went with the qa cuz I wanted a consistant trigger pull and I was ignorant about the AS pull. I want an AS in .40 also heh. they really are great underrated guns.
