Midway has Remington 700 Short Action for as low as $299.99 (dealer cost) with a .223 bolt face. Expect to pay around $350-$400 before paperwork.

I suggest looking for a complete gun. I'm waiting to pick-up a brand new Remington 700 that I bought for $310 shipped off of ar15.com. It's an ADL youth model in .243, but since I couldn't care less about the stock, barrel, or trigger, $310 shipped for a complete brand new in the factory box youth model is perfectly fine with me.

All I wanted was an action, but after seeing the cost of just the action, I figure getting a used gun would be a better route. But then I realized there are a lot of decent deals on forums. You just have to keep your eyes open.

Will they let a customer with a dealer account via a 03FFL place an order for an action and still get the dealer price? I was under the impression that only true 01FFL dealer accounts could place that order and still get it at the dealer price.

Never tried. I think you can order over the phone but they would of course need an FFL faxed before they ship. I'll call them and see.
