The MidwayUSA flyer came a couple of days ago and (among other tasty items, and I like buying from Midway since they support wed night gunshows on the Outdoor channel) I'm looking at the H-S Precision Remington 700 Detachable Magazine Trigger Guard on sale @ $250+s/h. Unless I'm wrong, it seems like this is how to use M1A mags on the Rem700P/308 in stock trim with a couple hours spent with the Dremel. Remington 700 BDS? BDL? HSP website is low on info. I'm lost in the woods here. Converting to mag-feed seems like a must-have........anybody?

The HS bottom metal doesn't use m14 mags. It uses their own mags which have been hard to get, expensive, and not reliable.

The best, most reliable setup out there (using a factory stock and not the AICS) is the badger DBM using AICS mags. You can inlet the stock yourself, or send it to GAP and they do it for like 50 bucks and install the badger bottom metal.

BTW, Midway shows the HS bottom metal as out of stock-no backorder. This is typical with HS precision.

Conversely, you could go all out and get an AICS. Might be more than you want to spend though. Good luck.

No problem. The factory stock on the 700p is pretty decent so its worthwhile to have it inletted and go with the badger dbm. You'll be very happy. Take care.

Having firsthand experience with the HS precision mag system... save your money.

As was said, fit, feeding, and reliability were rather poor.
