RRA Varmint EOP Upper Link (http://www.rockriverarms.com/item-detail.cfm?ID=AR0510X&storeid=1&image=uveop07.gif&CFID=4997125&CFTOKEN=63021381)

Is there going to be any noticeable difference between the 16" and 18" in terms of accuracy?

Does anyone know why the 16", 20", and 24" come with the choice for the float tube, but the 18" doesn't?

Does anyone have one of these (in any of the barrel length) and could offer a review please?

Cheers! Happy Turkey Day!

They are probably all going to be the same accuracy wise at 100 yards. It won't be until you are reaching out at further distances that you will notice a difference. Every inch of barrel you take off or add on is about 50 FPS difference.

Personally, I wouldn't recommend the EOP, but would stick with the standard A4. I think it limits your scope mounting options too much. For more information this see this link.

My guess on why they dont offer options on free float tubes for the 18" barrel is because it's a mid-length gas system while the others are eaither rifle or carbine length. I have the same 18" barrel on the upper that I put together, it is very accurate. My dad put 5 rounds in a nickle sized hole at about 60 yards. I was sighting it in and didn't have an opportunity to shoot further, but it looks promising!

It's funny - I thought the EOP would alleviate the scope mounting issues with the standard A4... I guess I need to check them both out in person rather than just from the pics. Thanks for the input!

The scope mounting issues on the AR platform really isn't the height of the rings, it is the placement of the scope. If you go to that link I provided, you will see that most guys mount their scopes with the eye piece right around the charging handle. It is hard to acomplish that with just mounting right above the A4 flattop. With the EOP, you would actually be limiting yourself even further because if you wanted to move forward at all with something like the RRA Scout Rail, you would definitely have too high of a mount.

I would stay away from the EOP at all costs.

What he said. Just get the RRA scope mount as well & you'll be good to go.

I have the 20" and love it. It's beastly heavy though.

Do you have any pics? I'd like to see your setup.

Thirded. It's the worst of all worlds, unless you have a specific optic that will mount well there and you never plan on changing it. A standard flat top has far more flexibility.

I just got this in the mail and installed it on my varmint AR. Works and built nicely.
