I was just at my local FFL (Gussler's in Santee) and i told him i was planning on having a Siaga sent to him and he said "I'm not taking any Siaga's until it gets sorted out with the DOJ..The DOJ considers them an Assault Weapon"

How can this be? This is even a guy who supports the OLL stuff going on?
Thoughts, opinions, letters from DOJ proving otherwise?

Thanks.

One particular incompetent DOJ inspector caused Gussler's (and two customers) problems. Some idiots back in Sacto backed him.

This is an issue only at one dealer. Hundreds of Saigas are being sold throughout California every month.

The NRA's lawyers are attacking this and other issues.

You might want to try Royal Loan on El Cajon BLVD.. http://www.royalloan.net/ They transfer OLLs.. they might do Saigas.

Also, Ammo Bros http://www.ammobros.com/ in Cerritos sells and stocks them. It's like 100+ mile drive from SD though. :(

I am having a hell of a time in the Redding area trying to get a Saiga. NOBODY will touch these things. OLL aren't popular either. I had to drive to Taft to get my OLL's. It was great to meet Wes @ Ten Percent but I dont want to make a 14+ hour drive for a Saiga. Any ideas?

Whoa, how times have changed in two short years.

When OLL stuff first started at end of 2005 there was just one, then 2-3 FFLs handling 'em by Jan 2006.

When Wes started selling Stag receivers people were driving across the state to get 'em - I remember the long drive to/from Taft (with obligatory stop at Harris Ranch).

ahhh Harris Ranch. I was one of the original to start buying from Wes late in 2005. Drove from Redding to Taft and back for I think 8 lowers and a PC9. Well worth the trouble. I dont see it for a couple of Saigas though. If anyone can let me know of a FFL that sells Saigas north of Sacramento I would appreciate it.

Wes, shoot me a Pm with some prices. If you weren't such a damned nice guy I wouldn't even think of it. I would like a 7.62x39 and a .308 I am going to be in Lodi for the holidays. I guess I can make yet another trip to OLL Mecca. This time you must go have lunch with me.

How times have changed. I remember standing in line for over an hour to pick up my first lower from Wes and now it's too much trouble to drive 30 minutes to the shop.

If I were within a three or four hour drive from Wes I would not do business with anyone else. He really treats you well and there is absolutely no attitude in his shop. Some of the shops around here treat you well but they won't touch anything in the OLL/Saiga realm. I had some really bad experiences in the Sacramento area. A couple of places treat you like they are doing you a major favor by taking your money.

Royal Loan won't do it, at least in my experience. I tried back in April, and they said that they won't do Siaga's. I pointed out that the Saiga I want is an Russian American Armory Saiga (not to be confused with the other EAA Saiga, or the other Kalishnikov Saiga), but they refused because the word "Saiga" is on that stupid list of named AW's.

Go to Unique Pawn Broker's on University (close to the BigLots!)... less than a mile away from Royal Loan. No hassles there.

Talk to Andy.

Nothing personal against Royal Loan - I like them alot. I've bought 2 handguns there... They are knowledgeable and respectful. It's just that it kinda pissed me off that they refused to FFL a perfectly legal rifle. Oh well.

Talked to Hiram's guns in el cajon..they said they'd do it for $75 including DROS.
Talked to EC Gun exchange and the guy said he was gonna charge me sales tax and a fee and that anyone who doesn't is gonna get in trouble...thanks but no thanks.
Talked to wholesale guns and James said that he could order me one and it would come to $321 including tax and dros fees and if i went in and ordered it i'd be ready for pickup at end of ten day waiting period.
Thats only like $20 more than an internet order and i woudln't have to take an extra week for it to get shipped from DD's Ranch then wait for the 10 days.

Yes PA in Esco will do any STRIPED OLL as well as Saigas no problem. I believe they charge $40 for the transfer plus CA tax if it was transfered form out of state and not taxed yet(and DROS fees of course). Your cheapest bet for a Saiga in san diego county... is wait for the cross roads show(costa mesa is nov 24th-25th and del mar is dec 8th-9th) and visit Hector from cold war shooters and bring cash and pick up 10 days later in highland.

PA raised their prices to $80 for a transfer. They also said they were only going to do stripped lowers from now on. I'm not sure if that's true or not since I haven't gone back there since the Del Mar show.

Hello,
I would like to have DD's Ranch send you a RAA Saiga
7.62x39
I was wondering if that was ok.
Also your fees are $65 plus the $25 DROS fees correct?

Thanks,

Wow thats ridiculous. Glad I have 6 extra stripped OLLs in my safe. Talk to Chris at LAN World. I believe he has a spot to FFL in Tustin that is very reasonable. Does Hector from CWS, not FFL to the Highland store anymore?

Depending on who you talk to at Turners they say Saigas are listed too.
However they were willing to transfer a PPSh for me.
On Target in Laguna Niguel won't do anything off list because the previous owners got in trouble for their very loose interpretation of what was and was not OLL.
I'll get mine through Ade's in Tustin.
(the guy in Tustin just mentioned that does transfers for Lanworld)
