Touche. To explain my thought: it's an AK... a $300 rifle... they're not target rifles, match rifles, high-speed ultra-cool uber-tacticool rifles... They're simple, reliable, battle rifles. That's all it'll ever be, no matter how much you dress it up like an AR.

Spend your money as you like & as you enjoy though. :) I just wouldn't do it to an AK of mine.

hey cheaperthandirt.com got some tactical handguard for for sale. they have a for ak and its going for $60+. seems to be some pretty good review on it. go check it out and let me know if you end up picking one up. ive been tempted to dress my ak up now but have been spending all my money on the 1911...

I like this one better...Keeps it looking more like an AK. But not too much like an AR.

So that you can mount the scope easier. That way you don't have to bring a spotting scope to see the bullet holes in the white areas of the target. It's a b**** having to walk all the way to the 100 yard line every time to see those 6"-8" groups.

:D

Who says you must put a target grade scope on the AK? How about a holosight or any other tactical red dot scope? Think before you post.

Who said anything about a scope? We were talking about pic rails. Fjold's mention of a scope was only an explaination of a possible use for the rails. Read the thread before you post. ;)

plain and simple= nah, only if i want to keep it looking antique.
tactical= badass.

i put the ugk rails and my ak pistol, and now it looks awsome. the only thing mounted on it is a tactical light. it looks like a movie gun or some sh-t youd see on matrix. ill post pics as soon as i get a camera.

I like the above rails. I've seen a few pictures of a ak 107 with the same rails but can't find the pics. A few other countries use them also.

This is the the AK rail I'm looking at, its just a little hard to justify a rail that cost's more than the whole AK.:o

A good number of people who fight with guns for a living use VFGs and dot optics on their rifles to make them more effective in that roll.

I have read of several people using ultimak's and other railed ak products as contractors in harms way, because they were issued AKs from the companies they work for.

I don't fight for a living and have no first hand experience with any of this, but I do believe there are legitimate uses for many products some people like to flame on.

I hear you..... But that doesn't make it unsuitable for red-dot and front pistol grip......

IMO, function>form.

How would one EVER maneuver (i.e. in/out of vehicles;around corners;CQB) with a 10/40 (:smilielol5:) mag that is not only fixed, but is nearly as long as the freakin' rifle!?!? The famous phrase "bull in a china shop" comes to mind!!:rofl2:
