The new GSG-5 .22lr HK MP5/94 clone is available for preorder now. The first 1000 guns have arrived in the US. BATF approved these for sale after 8 months of inspection and testing. Interestingly these rifles come into the US with the 24 round magazines and no US parts in them.

This person has at least 500 of them and he's selling them for $499 (suggested retail price).

This is the long awaited German Sports Gun 22 LR cal.

These guns are inbound and will be here in time for you to have in your hands before Xmas.

They come with a 24 round 22LR mag with a a2 stock, a full length barrel just like a HK 94 but with a fake suppressor screwed over the barrel. Have a wide 94 forearm and a2 stock. We will have these in hand in 2/3 week and are PRE-SELLING them for 499.00 plus 11.00 SH and 2% for CC use.

At this time there are extra mags for purchase with the gun, I dont know pricing yet on the mags future assx will include different forearms, mag clamps, a3 stocks etc...

You should have them in your hands by Xmas we will take full payment and ship in the order we are paid.

This were tested by ATF extensively for the pass 8 months they pass with flying colors. No malfunctions work great.

This 22cal LR closely replicates a HK 94 so the look and finish will be very close to the, as well as all the specifications

WE WILL HAVE THE ORIGINAL AT THE SAR SHOW WEST FOR ANY ONE THAT WOULD LIKE TO COME BY AND HANDLE IT.

WE NEED FULL PAYMENT ALONG WITH FFL ON THESE TO HOLD ONE FOR YOU. You can fax is your FFL along with who the gun is for and CC info if you like to 864-877-8811 or call 864-590-8570. We accept MO or checks or CC add 2%

I just got off the phone with him regarding the availability of 10 round magazines and shipping to CA. He says it should be no problem shipping them here once he confirms it's legal. I already told him .22lrs are exempt from CA AW laws. He will be getting back to me next week about the 10 round magazines. He even suggested pinning them somehow to keep them at only 10 rounds.

Other news from the German company is that they will soon be importing .22lr clones of the HK33, AK47, and G36. :43:!

I would not worry too much about 10 round mags. If we can get CWS into these, i'm sure the mags can be sent in pieces.

Also, high cap mags are incredibly easy to mod to 10 rounds permanently. I've done it to AK, AR, AR 9mm, M1a, and HK mags.

Count me in for a buy of anytype! group or not!

They will sell in Germany with either a 2 round mag (for hunting) or a 10 round mag (for target shooting), so "low-cap" mags shouldn't be a problem to find.

nah, only sixteen inches. I think the longer barrel would look better in a fake MP5SD than a fake regular MP5 w/suppressor.

I just spoke with the guy and he said that he will not be shipping any to CA. He said that he spoke with the DOJ (CA) and they said no way. They said it was Due to 922 (incorporated by CA) and foreign manufacture and no exemption for .22

Sounds off to me. If 922 applies, shouldn't it knock this product out everywhere? How could CA have a stricter standard of a federal rule? Anybody got any thoughts on this?

He also said that GSG (manufacturer) has plans for more .22 versions of famous rifles. HK 36, AK 47 and some others. Also, Cabelas is supposed to have the other half of this first order and will be pricing at 600 ea.

If there is no california rule against it tell the guy to call back some other day and talk to someone else if he wants a different answer, lol

Dirk Tungsten
11-21-2007, 1:05 PM
Yeah, how exactly can these be illegal in Cali due to 922r issues when they appear to be legal at the fed level? I imagine these would have to have met the US made parts count quota just to be sold here (USA), right? Or is somebody just ignorant of the law:confused:

God, I thought the BOF wasn't giving anymore opinions.
When I made a follow up call regarding the 10 round magazines, the person who answered the phone told me they didn't want to do business in Cali because they "didn't want to get in trouble with our DOJ". He also mentioned that it would be in violation of California's 922r. I thought I had straightened him out, oh well. He also said there were no 10 round magazines but the manufacturers website listed 2, 10, and 20 round magazines.
http://www.germansportguns.de/gsg5/index.pl?mode=2

Looks like it will be up to CWS to save the day.
These carbines have full 16in barrels that is hidden underneath a screw-on fake sound suppressor. These things are perfect for the CA market and they don't even know it. I can't wait for the HK G36 version.

Finally got the straight scoop on these rifles.....

There will be a small batch airshipped to the US....these will go out to various magazines for review......

Nxt Boat load will arrive mid DEC and by the time they clear customs you are looking at JAN to get the rifles to your hands....

There aren't that many and will be allocated.......so you know what that means....

Price will be 500-600 dollar range.....

LOOKS good for cali except for the mag that needs to be modified....

They have a none working gun here at the SAR Show.....you already know...I am here....:43: This is closer to the German model and the US model will vary slightly.....how, I don't know.....you know how the ATF is....

They should also be at the SHOT SHOW.....

Pretty close to the german guns but the rcvr was modified somehow for the US so I don't know if the other mags will work in the US guns....

They are planning NFA mods for the weapons.....so these will be a hot item.......

Greetings, Suchar Enterprises, located in Southern California, is now taking pre-orders for the much speculated, rumored and awaited MP5 clone chambered in .22LR, GSG-5. We have been allocated a number of units by the importer from their first batch of shipments. As you HK fans and fanatics may well know, these clones are precision manufactured in Germany and are somewhat interchangeable with HK external parts / accessories or mods. We will ship to your designated FFL. CA residents local to Suchar Enterprises will be offered a special transfer rate. California residents will receive moded 10 round mags while non CA GSG-5 orders will be sent to non restrictive states with 22 round mags. Additional mags are speculated to cost $35 MSRP and will be available soon after. Please visit our site www.suchar-enterprises.com for additional info, pics and videos.

I'm basing my opinion on the pictures from this post:

http://forums.accuratereloading.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/7811043/m/508109877

detailed pics. seems like an airsoft gun that shoots .22lr :D hehe although its priced not much more than an airsoft gun. i wonder what the full length is with the optional collapsible stock.

I'm not saying it will adversely affect performance, and it certainly wouldn't deter me from buying one; you can't expect too many machined parts for such a low price.

here'a a post from a Finnish GSG-5 owner from THR forums:

I quess I could try something to eliminate the wobble, Jeremy. But in reality it is so small it does not bother me yet. My AR15 tele-stock (Colt) wobbles about the same and I don't mind that either.

I find the gun prefers quality HV-ammo reliability-wise, allthough std-velocity works if the weather is not too cold. Excessively lubed bullets are best avoided, so no surprises there.

I must say (hope ruger fans are not terribly offended ), that this is so much better than a 10/22 (std model, stainless) I owned 10 years back. Reliability, accuracy, ergonomics, and even trigger are superior.

We spoke to the importer a few days ago and they said they would be receiving their first shipents in about a week and a half. We are hoping to have a few GSG-5s in our hands by the end of the month. Our Pre-order list is filling quickly and the importer has indicated that most dealers that have placed orders will only receive partial shipments due to the limited quantities of their first shipment.

As I understand it, your batch for sale will have a modified receiver to let it accept a 10rd mag. (Don't know what brand) With no date for delivery for the 10rd mags.
Is there going to be any other sellers of these that will be able to just modify the high cap mag to a 10rd mag. It'll be great to get the rifle but how long is the wait going to be for a 10rd mag?

Suchar-Enterprises
01-11-2008, 10:01 AM
The importer told us that GSG will modify the receiver to only accept a special modified 10 round mag. From our understanding, there is no ship date from the manufacturer for the "10-round" version of the GSG-5.

Once we have our GSGs in house, we will permanently modify the mags to 10 rounds for those who are ording from a restrictive state.

blockbuster
01-11-2008, 10:20 AM
Unfortuntaely, the importer only brought in GSG-5 with 22 round mags. Therefore as a consequence, these factory mags will be modded by SE to comply with the 10 round CA mag requirement.

It is true that 10 rounders will be available from the importer in the near future.

Apparently there is still some confusion about the 10 round version of the GSG-5.
We are only modifying (permanently) the 22 round magazines to a 10 round capacity; not the receivers.

German Sports Guns, the manufacturer, is producing / modifying GSG-5 receivers that will only accept 10 round mags. These “special” 10 round mags will only fit the modified GSG receiver and will NOT fit the standard GSG-5.

As far as we are aware GSG has not given any information regarding a release date, at least to the U.S., for the 10 round only GSG-5.

I was told that this particular gun was the only demo currently out "in the wild" in the U.S. I don't know if this is true.

In either case, to review a gun in any meaningful way takes time. I know a lot of people post a few pics, say the gun is great, and then repeat the marketing literature. That's not what I do, and that's why I haven't posted any data, conclusions, or an article on the GSG-5 yet.

If you'd prefer, I can hold back and keep photos of new stuff to myself in the future. Let me know.

No sense in waiting for the 10 rounders to be produced and shipped.. could be months if not years before that.. plus im still not sure what the deal is with the GSG-5's and the 10 round magazine.. whether they are simply modifying the mags or the receiver..

Just heard from the other forums that the GSG-5's metal is highly rigid and rugged dusplacing fears that it is nothing but a frankengun cobbled together using metal body and plastic parts from airsoft components imported from asia. Also, the GSG-5 has a long trigger pull similar to the MP-5.

This just upnotches the excitement for these guns. You can visit www.demigodllc.com for the first US pics for the GSG-5 in action!

Just curious guys, is the GSG-5 compatible or will accept other than non-clone parts? (this may sound dumb but accepts HK or non-HK MP5/94 (9mm version) receiver parts), since the frame design itself I assume is based off their airsoft version.

By the time I finish deciding...It'll be all gone :(

Here's an impromptu review of the GSG-5 , From what he says it sure is a winner!

I picked up my GSG-5 today and made a short trip to the range. Here are my first impressions;

Overall out of the box it looks good. Selector is easy to manipulate, mags were a bit tight in the mag well and the mag catch is a bit stiff but I expect it will break in a bit. The rear sight is configured like the HK rifle sights not like the MP5 sight. The apertures are a bit small and I will be opening one up as I use the third largest opening on my MP5s. Overall barrel diameter is thin, but with the faux can on you'll never see it anyway.

Went to the range and did an extensive internet/gunwriter torture test (IE: 190 rounds ). Ammo was CCI mini mags, mags were loaded to 20 rounds (will hold 24, designed to hold 22).

In that time I had 2 failures of the bolt to lock back on the last round of the mag. While the MP5 does not do this the GSG-5 is designed to. I also had one occasion of a failure to feed on the first round of a mag. On locking the charging handle to the rear and then releasing it again the round then chambered. Beyond that there were no issues.

I did not shoot for any type of accuracy as I was pressed for time (night shift tonight). Targets were a 8 x 10" plate and 8" plate rack at 25 yards. Sights were hitting just a bit high right out of the box. The trigger was a little rough, but certainly not a deal breaker.

I did notice some wear on the upper receiver tube where the cocking handle notch is. I was loading in the same fashion as an MP5 (bolt to the rear, mag in give it a tug, slap cocking handle forward). I'm guessing this will be a normal occurrence and I will keep an eye on it to see if it continues or if it's just a matter of surface wear during break in. Again. nothing to get bent about, but something I noticed.

Overall it's a pretty neat little blaster. Obviously this was a very limited first outing. It will be interesting to see what experience others have and what bugs more extensive use brings about. Given the price of .22 ammo and the rising prices of centerfire ammo I expect some of these guns will see some impressive round counts.

If it doesn't, I think one of the accessories coming from Germany is a copy of the HK collapsable stock. Only the Federal min of 26in (folded/collapsed) is used for rimfires in CA.

The iron sights are not exactly standard HK sights. I talked with the importer for a while and he told me that, as far as he knows, the entire gun is a little different. He said that most, if not all, parts are not interchangable. This includes the stocks. Still, all in all, it looks and feels great. I'm definately getting at least one. Also, I was invited to test fire it on Tuesday here in Las Vegas but, I'm not sure if I'll be able to because, I'm planning to go to another range to test fire the Nemisis 50! If I get to fire the .22, I'll post my opinion of it on Wednesday.

Finally ! Got the GSG-5 and a big WHEW !!! All my fears about the build quality has "shot" out the proverbial window. As those who have dabbled in aisoft , The GSG-5 has taken major design component build from airsoft as evidenced by the clam shell reciever , compatibility with airsoft accessories ,a fixed hollow stock aka the airsoft battery compartment . Notice the grip has a slotted cover gents? The original MP5 grip as we know is hollwed out . That slotted cover is where the metal heat sink for airsoft MP5 is attached as the pistol grip is where the electric motor is housed.

I give my two thumbs up for German Sports for not using the pot metal alloy that the airsoft guns are made with. The GSG version is heavy , built solid ,robust and crafted meticulously to ensure hours and loads of conitnous fun! Trust me this GSG5 will survive a drop test unlike my previous airsoft MP5 now broken in half.

Take note that all CA released GSG-5's must have 10 round mags or else be in violation of CA DOJ rules.

All GSG-5's shipped by Suchar Enterprises for CA customers are issued with
10 round mags that are already modified by SE to make these rifles California Legal.

Do note that the importer ATI sends out these rifles with a 22 round mag. It is up to either the retailer or your FFL to release the rifle to CA buyers with
an already moded mag.

The SE modified mags ran well during the tests with no jammimg issues attributed to the mag modification.

I attended the SHOT show this weekend and spoke to the manufacturer about the 10 round magazines for this rifle. They do have 10/30 type magazines coming into the US in a couple of months. The good news is that they are just modified versions of the 22 rounders, with the same length. No special 10 round magazine only receiver is going to be produced. They understood that these rifles shipped with 10 round magazines are California legal.

They also had the accessories there to check out. No price or date of release was revealed. Both the folding and collapsible stocks I tried out fit on the rifle fine, but wobbled a bit when I shouldered it. It looked good, but didn't have a solid feel.

These were definately quality rifles. Can't wait for mine.

The testing we did for the article averaged around 1.2" @ 25 yards, which is a bit over 4 MOA. Other reports on other forums are in the same range.

Note that these were with the stock iron sights, which are not particularly good.
