View Full Version : SA 7.62x51mm surplus in Tikka T3?
Any one here tried the SA 7.62 surplus ammo in their 308 cal Tikka T3 rifles? I know the general consensus is that 7.62x51 nato rounds are "ok" to use in .308 cal, but not vice versa. Not too many people here (after searching) have Tikka rifles so I'll understand if the responds are limited.

I've used it in my tikka lite. Not the most accurate ammo out of my tikka but not the worst either. Use it for standing practice.
I have a Tikka T3 varmint in 308 and I have used the SA, Argie and Aussie mil surp ammo on it without a problem.:cheers2:

I've been shooting 7.62X51, in my Savage, with no apparent side effects.
I use the SA in my Savage 10FP - not great groups but, I can sure shoot up the country side with it.
She definitly knows when I'm feeding her the good stuff tho.
Thanks guys for the reassurance....i feel better feeding her this stuff now.

Fwiw, I have problems extracting fired cases of 7.62 NATO from my Remington 700 PSS and 7600, including old W. German and Portuguese surplus. .308 Win. cases extract fine. Go figure...

The T3 is guaranteed to shoot MOA and IMO has one of the best triggers around.
