I have never seen one. Looks different, it would cool to be the first kid on the block with one on Christmas morning :coolgleamA:

I think it looks amazing. Looks like it is made out of billet aluminum or something.

That thing looks WICKED!

Hey, when you find out more about them, can you post the specifics, i.e. price, availability, CA legality?

Its $12,000 to $14,000(USD) includes optics and a bunch of other stuff in that price.:eek::eek:

As far as availability - probably limited at best, You would probably have to get ahold of the factory and ask, but may be limited to Polish armed forces only.

CA legaility - Its a bolt action .308 - dont think there would be any problems there

That's insane! 14 large? For that price, it should come with a lifetime supply of ammo AND a plate of Pierogi!

Oh well, I'll add it to my "I wish I could get it, but there's not a chance in hell I could afford it" wishlist... (Other items on my wishlist include a HK PSG-1, Steyr IWS 2000, and authentic Dragunov SVD, and a CheyTac Intervention.)

well the 14k price is *supposedly* what the Polish special forces paid for them. Obviously i dont know the real price or even if you could buy one.

I'm surprised that space guns aren't more popular around here given their advantages. No bedding issues, but I guess the expense is the trade off. People are obviously buying AI and other pricey stuff though. Tube guns for the masses have to catch on sooner or later.

If its a Polish rifle, the bullet exits through the buttstock and they are only used once. The government just can't bear the thought of another mass surrender.

I would make a joke about the price, but the US government has done worse. Maybe the excess price is funding their space program. I heard they are working on a space probe to explore the distant region of Lithuania.

For 14k I'd rather buy a DSR-1 and have plenty of cash left over for ammo!

That thing ain't no .308 -- take a peek at the size of the cartridges. It's more likely a PPC (Polish Proprietary Cartridge - I'm tempted to make a BRUTAL joke, but prudence tells me not to), or just a .50BMG. In the case of the more probable latter: SORRY PRK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:( BTW- you could buy a Chey-Tac or TWO Barrett 82A1's for THAT kind of scratch!)

No offense but it helps to actually read the thread :)

The first pics are of the .308. The later ones (including the one with the cartridges) are of the .50BMG version

thanks for the info Mike. That Alex rifle kinda remind me of those Iver Johnson/AMAC 50cal rifles. Maybe the GROM's are wearing out those TRG's eh?

thanks for the link about the Beryl too. Someone stateside should make a Tantel rebuild kit in 223 like the Beryls:)

PolishMike - quite a long way from "a na Tygrysy (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tiger_I) maja Visy (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vis_(weapon))...", no ? ;)

Got to look at one over here. LOTS of Poles on base, including a GROM team. It is, basically, a much improved Iver Johnson. Fit and finish are superb, and the bolt cycles like the rails are made of butter. The one I looked at was indeed in 7.62NATO, and the GROM gal (yes. blond, gorgeous, and built like a pro wrestler...oh pin me!) assured that the one in the barracks was a .50. Remember, Poland is NATO now....and they love America.

The brake is somewhat of a modified Barrett, sized according to caliber. Estimated weight is in the 12+lb range..much more in the .50. I didn't get to shoot it.......................yet...............but have been invited to the range with my new friends.

BTW, I'm Polish too, but ignored Dad when he tried to teach us the language. Yeah, I feel stupid for it now.

Poland, still not an official country yet, held off the German armored Blitzkrieg for over two weeks with mounted Cavalry and light infantry. In contrast to the French, who took two weeks to prepare the homecoming celebration for the Nazi's (so many white flags, so little time)

Nice, thats really good to hear man. Let us know how it shoots if you get the opportunity. You wouldnt happen to know if they sell them outside the Polish military would you?

Stay safe,

Mike

I stand corrected. However, the French models are guaranteed to have never been fired.

I'm 1/2 Lithuanian (no speaka nada), so I get the Polish jokes as well. After my wife found out about the 1569 Lublin Union of Poland and Lithuania she has been relentless with the Polish jokes. I guess that's what I should expect from a German.

Judging from some of those last pics, Its not a 308, its a .50 cal. Look at the magazine in the last few pics. Definitely not 308. Im assuming that the first pics are 308 though.
