Finally getting around to build a deer gun(just another name for a stag lower). Im just having trouble deciding which upper to go with. So far its between a cmmg 16" specter with MI flip up sights or a stag 2ht.

I will be mounting an eo tech or aim point on this.

I'd be looking at a bigger caliber.

Oh I think I should have explained the whole "deer gun" its just a saying for a stag lower. The rifle is just gonna be a fun gun.

Oh.

That's completely different...... :p

I'd go CMMG anyday of the week. Based on personal preference and experience with the uppers.

Adding: I love my pair of LMT uppers, but for other barrel options, I like CMMG. if you're looking for a 16" or 14.5" with a pinned muzzle device, you can't go wrong with an LMT.

My vote is for CMMG as well.

CMMG is good quality, but there are better mfgs out there. Top pick would be Colt, LMT or SDI. If your looking for an affordable gun that will shoot well go CMMG. Go with the top tier mfgs if you plan to bet your life on your gun.

I'm a fan of CMMG for their barrels. I'd have no problem betting my life on a CMMG upper.

Since I have a bag of Colt bolts, I'm good to go.

VLTOR for standard gas op. POF or the LWRC for gas piston.

Go mid-length.
That rules out Stag.

CMMG all the way!!! i have one and love it!!! plus ive seen quite a few threads here about stag uppers not working well with certain ammo, my cmmg takes wolf, crappy reloads, anything u feed it, it will shoot it.

WOLF!? Just don't tell that to CMMG. It voids your warranty

If your gun explodes just tell them it was remington :D

i dont shoot wolf on a regular basis, i just had 1 box in my ammo box and figured let me try it to see if the rifle takes it or not, and i had no ftl, ftf or fte. infact i was at the range today, and i shot 250 rounds of cheap .223 brass ammo i bought from the glendale gun show with 0 malfunctions.

Edit: P.S. people are too quick to blame the ammo when their guns are faulty. i doubt wolf ammo, or any other ammo for that matter ever made anyones gun explode, a good quality gun should be able to handle any ammo you feed it. if it doesnt, then blame your gun, and not the ammo.

That's what I just got, baby - with an Elcan SpecterDR on top of it.

Was gonna try it tonite at Sunnyvale but the rifle range was closed, just the trap range open. Oh, well, weekend's coming..

LMT uppers are the best.

there's one in the marketplace if it hasn't sold yet.

Mine's on order direct from Noveske. I'm having John change two things, though...can't wait till it gets in my grubby little hands.
