This has to be one of the most useless answers I've ever seen. No Duh! Maybe he is looking for a specific location.

I guess I must be searching the wrong key words. Can you provide the key words you used and the relevant link that you got?

Hey, I've got an even stupider one: "Try posting on Calguns and see what they say."

P.S. you may have gotten a problem because you spelled "Izhmash" (not "Izmach") incorrectly.

Interesting! The importer misspelled it on my receiver. (B-West)

Actually that is very intersting. I assume that yours was imported a long long time ago, as (well as far as I know) russian tigers are no longer imported.

Actually it was Izhmash that mis-spelled the word. Remember these words were originally in Russian Cyrillic so there is not often a direct letter-for-letter equivalent in English.

From what I can tell they standardized on the "sh" after 1993 when these were imported.

If you need more help with disassembly let me know and I can get you where you need to be.

Thanks for all the help guys. I looked at all the links and none of them show a good exploded view of the gas system but they have text instructions. I am guessing that the disassembly of the SVD and Tiger gas systems are the same even though they are different (SVD is adjustable).

Yes they are the same. The adjustable part is just a sleeve over the the part that the gas piston goes in. It doesn't add any more steps to the disassembly process.

Basically field strip the rifle, remove the hand guards, carefully pull the long rod back to clear the piston and lift up. Then slide the piston out, press the little lever to lift the arm out of the notch in the piston housing, unscrew the housing. That's pretty much it. Remember just clean up these parts, don't apply any oil.

When you reassemble be very careful when you slide the rod with the spring back in under the rear sight. It is easy to kink the spring and if it breaks where will you find another?

I have another question for those of you that are experienced with this rifle: What is the point of having 2 recoil springs? Seems like it makes the top cover overly complicated. I am only comparing to my PSL.
