it looks awful close but i think its very possible that its 16 inch. the rails on the front do make it appear short.

maybe someone who knows the guy can pass along the right info to keep him kosher. after all, it would be the right thing to do. teach him, not just turn him in. he might just not know what hes done, if infact he has done anything at all ( besides do a ugly thing to a good rifle).

That is so wrong! It must have been built as a gag, because as it is, it's pointless and a complete waste of money.

So when this guy was finished at the range, he drove home in this car.....

Who's to say he didn't get a tax stamp for it?

Why do people always think that you can't build something like that and actually take the legal steps in doing so.

I actually think it's kida cool.:o

reread my statement. i put in the "if hes done somthing at all". meaning he may be completely legit( for whatever reason).

personally, id like to see a pistol version of this. does anyone even make a virgin reciever to build from?

or maybe a period piece like this. vintage flashlight, ect

Yeah, the Russians made a period piece as well as the English and Americans at one point in time. They're called Mosin Nagants and the 'period' look was wood and not ugly...er...est. http://www.ar15.com/images/smilies/icon_smile_dead.gif

Seriously though, there is no reason to do that other than to be the guy who did it. There are MUCH better actions out there than an old Mosin Nagant, which are nice in their own right don't get me wrong, but to go though THAT trouble to make a bolt action 'CQB' weapon is beyond me. Still, if you like the look that much you could make your own since bolt actions aren't regulated by the safe list.

It's funny though, because some people will clown on the Tanker M1s, and that is a questionable subject for me because I can see both sides of the arguement and understand, but THIS? This is just too far out there in la-la land to be anything other than a shock/novelty weapon.

Even if we could get NFA items here, I can't imagine spending $200 on the tax stamp to make THAT.

I just ordered the AMD65 type muzzlebrake for the nagant project I want to work on... Now I just need to pull the nagant I want to do it to out of storage.

i want a just barely 16inch overall length (including a the pinned on brake)

I Just want to have it as an option incase I have to shoot next to people who have bad range manners.

Thats quite a bit of overkill for a mosin. I have been considering making the gun "The End" uses in Metal Gear Solid 3. He uses a mosin sniper model thats equipped with a foldering stock (similar to the folding m1 carbine stock) and a wooden pistol grip.

I'm pretty sure that's a 16" barrel. There's sort of an optical illusion going on with the mind wanting to measure barrel length from the forward grip, not the actual barrel. For some reason I see the entire rear end of the gun as just a stock, when I look at it, but that's incorrect.

Ok, the whole time I was reading this I was thinking "what an idiot..." until I got to the bolded part and then all I could hear was Heaven bells, angelic choirs, and the words "Genius!" being sung in my head.

Everyone should just think aobut it for a second. Imagine a nice clear day and you are shooting ever so peacefully when some gangsta-thugs start shooting next to you pointing their Glock sideways flinging brass up and onto you. So you casually set your rig down, step back to your truck/car and pull out your mosin, side step a bit to get as close to them as politely possible and shouldering your ~12" boom stick, loaded with extra hot ammo of course, and just letting the shock wave rip into them. I love it.

I think you should also consider buying two, and welding up the ports on the left side on one and the right side on the other, just to prove your point. :D

Ok, I feel a little better about it.

Apparently the guy shooting it is NOT the owner. He is a friend of the owner. Apparently the owner(s) are an actual gun shop that specializes in NFA type items. Someone brought in a bubba's and shot out Mosin Nagant and they had no idea what to do with it. So it became an inside joke to make it 'tacticool'. The result was what you see. The guy shooting it, again not the owner, said this about it:

Believe me when I say this... shooting that thing is like getting it on with a fat girl. Its fun and feels good until someone sees you do it.

I can appreciate that. The guy shooting it is actually a Milsurp collector and has a pretty good collection from what he is saying and the pictures he has shown on the other thread.
