Can it be fired in 45 ACP revolvers, let's say 1960's Model 25s and after? Can it be fired in 3" ACP semis?

It seems to be common knowledge that the hk USP series can take 45 super and I too am curious to know what it shoots like. Pretty sure there is an extra stiff spring to be used in whatever pistol you wanna shoot it through.

I wouldn't go through the trouble to get a custom heavy duty bbl and spring for a 1911 though. Money would be better spent on a 10mm, IMO.

Here's a link on info regarding .45 Super:

I feel that the HK's 45 pistols (USP, HK45) are sturdy enough to handle the round, but it will need another (and stronger) spring setup.

ooooh. i just found out today that buffalo bore makes 45 super ammo. I was browsing the site on down time. I am almost tempted to try it in my USP but i think I will wait for someone else to try it first ;)

That's pretty much what I'm doing. Everybody says USP's are good to go, but still.

OK, I will confess. I have been shooting 45 super equivalent for several years out of my USP Expert. What I actually shoot is the .450 SMC (short magnum cartridge) which was developed by the now defunct Triton cartridge company. Basically it is a .45 Super but with thicker sidewalls and a smaller primer pocket. The specs on the packaging for the 230gr JHP are 1150 fps/675 ft/lbs and the 165 gr jhp 1450 fps/770 ft/lbs from a 5" barrel. I installed a 18lb Wolff recoil spring and the gun is a real pleasure to shoot with either loading. The Expert is still tight and extremely accurate after several thousand rounds of .450 SMC and standard .45 ACP.
