Found this over at the M&P forum. $50 rebate plus 2 free magazines for any new M&P purchase good now thru 1/31/08. Hope it's not a repost.

That's a good deal.

They're preparing for a slower Xmas season (most people don't give handguns as gifts, so budget is burned for other things - though that's a tradition I'd like to change ;)

The 2 free mags is a good deal since the M&P mags are not the cheapest out there due at least in part to newness/supply. (Factory Glock mags are $17/ea, for example, from CDNN.)

wow! That is a good deal. Thanks for the link.
I wonder who has the best deal in Los Angeles area.
Better act quick becasue the fine print says "Smith & Wesson reserves the right to discontinue or change the program at any time."

You should see their stock price if you want a discount. They are getting hammered after making comments about a slow hunting season thus far.

Thinking of picking some up......

Do all M&P's come with the mag disconnect?

Danield by any chance did they mention the price on the 45?

The Mag disconnect can be disabled fairly easily.

ohhhh....haha, you got me all excited for a second there. I thought that "stock price" meant something like invoice price on a car. sometimes, you just miss the most obvious things.

Does a smith have to do this? Or can someone like me with no experience working on guns do this?

Perhaps you could. Gunsmith Dan Burwell (Google him) has posted how to do it, and there's the discussions on http://mp-pistol.com.

Better choice: ship your M&P to him and have him do a trigger job at the same time. I'm getting ready to send mine in... very reasonable...

It never hurts to haggle. All they can say is no. It surprising who can and will give a discount.

That's a really good deal. During this summer they had a promotion of 2 free magazines when I bought a M&P9c. Now we get $50 back with the 2 free magazines.

there's great instruction on there. i disabled the mag disconnect using a spare spring i had lying around. i also performed some of the trigger work as described. it's pretty easy with a few tools and attention to detail.

If someone in SJ area wants to shoot an M&P 45 w/manual safety lemme know; some night when Parag & I head over to the excellent Reed's shooting range (imagine: a gun range with classical music in the background!) - you're welcome to run some rounds thru it. It's only partially broken in, I need to run a few hundred rounds more thru it before I send it out for a Burwell trigger job.

Pasadena Turners has both the 9 and 40 for that price as well if anyone is in the area and wants to see how it feels in the hand. For me, the medium is too large. Hoping the small palm swell will work better. I am really considering this in 9 although the PX4 does feel really good too.

I just ordered an M&P .45 today, it will be at the store tomorrow.

I'll probably also be ordering an M&P in 9mm before the Jan 28th rebate ends.

I just hope S&W renews their safety listing for the unfluted 5" 686+ .357 it drops off the list on 1/29/08. I need one of those too but want to buy the M&P in 9mm before the rebate expires.

I was just at ON TARGET (Laguna) today, and they will be getting one in.
They didnt know when, but they did say that they are getting in a .45.

Does any of the ranges in Orange County rent them?

The M&P will work fine without a backstrap at all. This would give you and even smaller grip and shorter reach to the trigger. You can get Burwell or Bowie to work the backstrap-less grip to smooth out the edges and fill in the gaps. Just a thought.
