This article posted in The Foundry, on Feb. 8th, lays out the myth of the "gun show loophole" for those who've never delved into the details of the issue.

Good luck trying to buy a gun without having the the dealer run background check in CA. I REALLY have no idea where the demagogue GET the idea that you can get a gun in CA without a background check. Good God, they must be smoking some really hard s^&%

The anti gunners have never let a lie stand in their way of bashing gun ownership.
They are not obliged to tell the truth.
They figure that people are generally lazy or too stupid to do any research on these subjects and people will believe any thing they tell them because they said so.
Unfortunately for us there is little we can do about it except to try to get the truth out about what the anti gun movement have lied about.
Sometimes that confuses the people more and they take the attitude of better safe than sorry.

The gunshow loophole is another way of saying ,you cannot. buy or trade guns with your buddy unless the Feds approve it 1st.

No law abiding gunowner will sell or trade a gun to someone he does not trust .
The police have the ability to track down the seller via the serial # which means it comes back on you .

Yet the liars call private party transfers or trades a loophole ! Sheesh !
Californians used to enjoy this right of private property !

It's gone now !
Pay the fee and get checked out!

At one time in this state you could sell your gun to anyone with cash, no need to go see a licensed dealer and pay a tax to trade private property for cash.

You can still do this in most free states still today, just not here, it's for the children....

There is no such thing as a "gun show loophole". You buy a gun at a gun show, you go through the background check and wait out the waiting period, then pick up your gun at the dealer. I am sick and tired of hearing the libs refer to a so called "gun show loophole" ABSOLUTELY STUPID.

Evidently that's not the way it's done in all states.

The states where it's not how it works at gunshows don't mandate a difference outside of them.

Excluding a handful of states that California is a part of, it's legal to buy or sell a gun to a private party if you don't have a reason to believe it'd be illegal to.

Not sure what you're smoking... but any gangbanger knows they can get a workable pistol for $200 off East 14th in Oakland.

Criminals don't follow the law. These legislators just want to make themselves look good like they're trying to do something. Damn media whores will do anything for some face time on camera.

Yet they still keep getting re-elected. What a shame! Sucks!!!

Politician. The only position where job security depends on which way the wind is blowing. Right now the wind is blowing the wrong way. It's removing our rights via hyperbole and innuendo.

"gun show loophole" is a term made up by anti-human rights terrorists to demonize gun shows among other things...

gang bangers in CA aren't going to gun shows to buy collectibles from private parties to commit their crimes, even if there's no background check required until next year.

Its not a matter of looking good, it's much more personal than that. Liberals don't like GUN OWNERS, period. It's ideological warfare and here in the PRC they've got the world by the tail on a downhill pull. If the courts don't save us then either buckle under or move to a free state.:(

Loopholes in general are things that are legal that someone wants to be illegal.

Yep....the term loophole gets overused. To the libs a loophole just means "something that is currently legal but we think shouldn't be."

Loophole really means something that a passed law intended to make illegal but accidentially didn't do to poor wording or overlooking of some aspect.

In free states with unrestricted PPTs it's not a loophole nor do gunshows have some specific exclusion that allows them to circumvent federal law. The PPTs that take place in those states whether at someone's home or at a gunshow are perfectly legal, so it is purely with misleading intent the anti's continue to brand it a loophole.

That's like saying driving 65mph in a 65mph zone is a loophole because you dont think people should be able to drive that fast.
