It seems like the MSM has totally ignored this. Are they suing? Apologies from LAPD? Anything?

Can anyone say "Mag Dump"?

Nothing against the officers. I did read that they offered the women a new Ford (which was not a 4x4 las was their Toyota) under the condition that they could not sell it until they owned it for a year. And, get this, they would have to claim it as a "gift" on their taxes. :)

I believe the women turned the offer down.

edit: looking that the picture of the truck I am not sure it is a 4x4. All the 4x4 I have seen have 4x4 printed on the rear mud-flaps/guards... The article claimed the women said their vehicle was a
4x4

Ford for a Toyota?? Seriously? No wonder they turned it down.

I wonder how many rounds ended up in the garage/house at the end of the street there?

Yes, if the women accepted the replacement truck, they were going to have to pay "gift tax" on it, same as if they won it on the "Price As Right".
They should not accept any offer from the LAPD and just sue the poop out of City.

last i heard is LA gave the women $40k in the form of a check to buy the vehicle of their choice. tax exempt. This was after LA's talk show hosts John and Ken publicly shamed them into paying up.

they are still working on the main settlement which will and should be in the millions. so far only the truck has been compensated for.

Probably slapped lightly on each wrist. They should be paying out their own pockets. The lead cop went on the air and said we got him we got dorner. Got their post certs from a crackerjack box.

I imagine that the line of lawyers waiting to represent them is hella long.

Officers probably got medals.

Not going to lie, that's some pretty bad shooting. I mean atleast I would be able to put them all into the location of the drivers seat. They are all over the place.

But seriously, charges should be brought up against the officers.

Some folks in LA seemed to know better.

Actually I am now noticing shotgun shells outside the door of the police car. I guess that partially explains the bad aim.

Yep, even if it had been Dorner driving, those cops were attempting to murder him. This is a clear case of attempting to deprive someone of their civil rights, why aren't the feds involved?

What do you mean, both?

Seven officers stepped up to the plate on this one.

That's like having an entire basketball team, the coach and the water boy taking shots at the wrong vehicle.

That's NYPD quality shooting.

It was definitely a very bad shoot.

Not sure why they started shooting. Might be something of an excuse there although I just don't have an inkling of one at this time.

If they are normal LEOs those cops likely feel horrible about what they did. But then, the two women likely do as well. . .

That's not a 4x4, it doesn't have enough clearance. I think that's a very minor issue in this case though. Where is the public outrage over this? Two defenseless, law abiding citizens who would have been murdered but for the police' lack of range time...just sickening.

I'd be happy if the involved all got ADW. Attempted Murder would be better.

The Toyota Prerunner is a two wheel drive truck. It is designed to look exactly like the 4X4 version, same height and suspension.

It's a Tacoma Prerunner (see the lower right of the tailgate). They have the same ground clearance and suspension as the 4x4, but are 2WD.

Ah. I stand corrected. At first glance I didn't notice the tires were flat. That would explain the apparent lack of ground clearance. Once again though this is an issue of very little consequence IMHO...

I don't expect anything to happen to these officers except maybe they'll get a promotion. It is very likely they were told to shoot first ask questions later, pretty typical when they are faced with a cop-killer.

The people of Los Angeles will be stuck paying the blood money to the ladies in the Toyota.

They should be paying out their own pockets.

This. As long as the taxpayers have to foot the bill for all these lawsuits, they will continue.

Personally I feel that they should be charged with attempted murder. If an average group of citizens did that the outrage would be enormous. As law enforcement officers they should be held to at least the same responsibility that everyday people would be for not endangering the general public.

I heard at one point that the officers were SWAT team guys. Never heard that again so it might have been wrong but if they were it's even more scary.

Let us not forget that Torrance PD shot up a vehicle in a similar manner on the heels of the LAPD shooting. They too will likely continue on with careers with impunity.

Officers will get promoted, tax payers foot the bill, that how it goes in LA..

It'll never happen, but I agree. Except about the attempted murder part. Legally, this was attempted voluntary manslaughter (attempted murder is reduced to attempted involuntary manslaughter in cases of imperfect self-defense).

This is not a 2A topic, and until something actually happens, there is nothing more to discuss.
