Surplus 7.62x25 ammo is cheap and plentiful and has good stopping power and decent armor penetration..

Is the Romy TT-33 Cali legal to my FFL?

My use of the search option could not find this question.

Thanks

Short answer = no.

Since, they added a safety to it for importation reasons, it is no longer considered a C&R.

Since, it's not a C&R and not on the "approved list", you can not legally import it into CA. Unless you are a LEO or moving to CA from another state.

It is legal to PPT, but that would imply that the handgun is already in CA. Which could be brought in by a LEO or someone relocating to CA from another state.

If you want something that uses 7.62x25mm, try getting a CZ-52. They are C&R and sell for under $200.

Thanks! I mostly own rifles...I already have a CZ52 and would loved to have purchased a Romay TT33.

I assume the Polish and Chicom TT-33s came in to Cali prior to the law? Since they have the added safety's..

So can this be sent to a local Cali 01 FFL? I looked at AIM and IO sites they say they are C&R..

It is a federal C&R still, despite the added safety. This letter from the ATF says so:

You can have it imported and DROS as a C&R. No problemo!

This is now correct!

BATFE changed their mind and it's now C&R eligible.
