Hi

I know you can do it yourself - and have messed up doing it myself. I have a 7.62 rifle that I want to have the barrel shortened and a muzzle brake put on.

Bolsa Gunsmithing told me they won't do it,
RD precision and AR15Barrels are not taking new work.

Any suggestions

thank you

Richard

AR15Barrels are not taking new work.

Why am I always the last to hear this?

What type of gun/action?

7.62 is a very vague description of a rifle.
Is it 7.62x39, 7.62x51 or 7.62x54?

AR15barrels is not taking new barrel orders. He does a good job on a cut and thread. He did 3 of my rifles. Couldn't be happier.

Hi Randall

Maybe I was wrong

I have an Enfield (the Ishapore 7.62 x 51 type).

Is this something you would do?

thank you

Perhaps.

Is the barrel off the action already?
I seem to be amassing action vise blocks for various different actions lately.
If we can get the barrel off the action, I can certainly do the shorten/thread job.

The barrel is still on the receiver -
what do you think? (other than it might be a PIA)

thank you

Is the bottom of the action flat like a Mauser 98?
If so, my mauser action wrench would probably work.

This is really one of those "just gotta try it" things.
I can't answer a definite yes or no until I try it.

OK if I send it to you?

I can only work on serial numbered receivers while you are standing here.
I can't do barreled actions via the mail.

The filename for that page is appropriate: hack

Hi

thank you, I will try to figure out a time when we can do this in Mar Vista. In 1972, when I got out of the Army, I lived in Mar Vista, was working at a small market in Culver City called a "Pronto", now the Trader Joes Chain!

Best

Richard
