Recently I started a thread titled "In search of a decent 9".After a lot of feedback from you all and research on my part I decided on the "california compliant" Sig 226 X-5 Comp.To make a long story sad Iwas just told by my local gun shop that the gun is legal here but not the mags.I could purchase just the firearm minus the mags for around $1900.00.The ten round mags that actually redede into the butt of the gun could be purchased for around $50.00 dollars Extra.

There are laws effectively preventing CA residents from purchasing magazines with capacities over 10 rounds. Sadly, this will be an issue with any firearm you choose.

You have good taste, though. That's one helluva gun.

I will also suggest that, unless that was a used gun purchase or some transfer, you should be able to get it WITH 10 round mags for that price. In fact, that price is above retail. You should be able to locate 10rd mags for about $25, too.

True the 19 round mag can't be imported in Kali. but check w/ the seller and see if they can replace it w/ a 10 rounder. Good luck.

A coworker of my purchased the X-5 comp and the dealer just replaced the mags with 10 rounders. It uses regular P226 mags if I recall.

Have you considered buying online? I would think you could find a 1400-1600 price easily online with cheaper very possible.

Head over to sigforum.com and check out the much loved forum dealers in the classified section. A couple of dealers come to mind.

Ted from tnghardware (zeroskillz)
Steve from SCP firearms (220st)
Jason at JCweaponry (JCWeaponry)

There are plenty of others also. That, and once you pick up that sig, you're already part of the community. :D

<= P229 .40 that I sold but missed and promptly got a P226 9mm and trailside 22.

When I got my 226, he didn't have 10 round mags but shipped the gun off to get the 10 day waiting period started. He then shipped the mags separetely so that I would have them ready and waiting.

The x-5 takes standard 10 round p-226 mags.

+1 for Steve from SCP, if you decide to buy from out of State.

That's a nice gun. I just got the normal p226 in 9mm with the CT grips and I love it, of course I would love the X-5 if I could afford it. Someday.

I have an X-5. Nice pistol. Yeppa unfortunatly it can be had with those cool Lock-lear approved 10 rounders. Buy it an enjoy what little you can before the new regulations on Micro Marking hit. Now that is a great idea nobody asked for!!

I'm not sure about that specific X5, but one of the guys I shoot with has one that he took the magwell off of after getting too many pinch-cuts from the 10 rd mags.

Guys, there is nothing to do. Buy the X-Five Comp, and it will come with the dumb 10 round mags. It uses the same dumb 10 rounders as all the rest of my P226s.

Not related to the seller but this is a good deal. Just ask if they will sell without the Mags...
