This is a really interesting and important article. Please make sure you read it. You can vote from it at as well. http://news.aol.com/story/ar/_a/rash-of-brutal-cop-killings-worries/20071015102709990002

With 16,552 votes, 51% oppose a ban. 45% favor, and 4% aren't sure.

This is actually a big win for us. The poll followed an article entitled "Rash of Brital Cop Killings Worries Police," and the question says "A police chief's group is pushing for a ban..."

If you can't get a majority to vote for a ban with that kind of propaganda, your cause is lost.

Police officials from departments across the country say they are confronting more combative suspects in situations ranging from robberies to routine traffic stops.
"Lately, it seems like there is a brutality and a willingness to cross a line, to take a life, even if it is a police officer. The capacity is growing, and it is disturbing."

And disarming me would improve this situation how? If it's getting that dangerous out there, I want more firepower at my disposal, not less.

Somebody needs to tell these guys that disarming your friends doesn't make your enemies weaker.

I don't want this to turn into a cop bashing thread, but I will say this, if LE dropped the tough guy attitude, acted like they were part of the community instead of just putting in their 8-10 hrs to collect a paycheck and actually interacted with people, things would probably be alot different. But since they are indoctrinated at the academy to believe they are better than non LE, and that translates into a bad attitude on the street, it's no wonder the violence is growing. Of course the stats could be inflated to exagerate the trend. I've seen proof of that.

The thing that caught my eye was that they said the largest police association in the country was calling for a renewed AWB but, later in the article they said this group was the IACP. This is the International Association of Chiefs of Police. It makes one wonder how many of those Chiefs calling for a renewed AWB don't even live in this country?

Also, neither the murder weapon nor the other weapons seized from the scene would have been considered an assualt weapon, even under the old AWB. This is just more spin from the antigunners.
