I need some help deciding on my next handgun purchase. I recently got married so funds are tight and I need to be more selective with my purchases :)

I am thinking 9mm because this will also be something my wife will shoot. I already have a reasonable Sig, XD and 1911 collection but donít have any of the following manufacturers. I have narrowed it down to the following 4 makes/models. Let me know what you think

HK P2000 LEM 9mm
HK USP 9mm
Glock 19
CZ SP-01

Get the Glock imo. Best gun for the $$$

If it had to be 9mm, I'd go with the G19. I have a USP compact LEM in .40 and like the trigger, but my G19 just seems better.

Since you mention your wife will be shooting it also, I picked the SP01. Very nice slim grips, even for a double stack.

Always helps to list the handguns you own already!

If you want different, since you already own an XD, I'd say the Glock is pretty close to that. The P2000 with LEM is closest to that, too. The Sig is closest to the CZ. The P2000 is a better gun than the USP, with its backstraps, cut down slide, etc.

I would suggest that, at this point in time, the CZ might be the best choice. I've seen some bargain bin prices on them. With a trigger job they can be very nice. The Glocks are nice, but I don't think you add any "extra" over the XD. If I were looking to add an HK, I'd wait for a P30 or HK45 (there's no way they won't end up in state).

Ruger P89 (heavy) or P95 (not as heavy). Tough, reliable, accurate, and worth the $$$$. Yes, they are bulky. but I like that.

Has to be 9mm?

I'd strongly suggest a S&W M&P.

Most excellent advice. I'd follow the same also. The G17 and 34 should be looked at also.

But, I wholeheartedly agree... with the P2000 V3 9mm as tops.

i think you're gonna get the best value out of the Glock 19.

Everybody needs a glock.

My .02 - If you are not planning on concealing it, I like the 17 better than the 19. The longer barrel gives more velocity and a longer sight radius. The 19 sometimes pinches the palm of my hand when I ram a magazine home, but the 17 doesn't. Both point about the same, wich is to say very well.

Since your wife will be a shooter, the full size SP-01 on your list is probably the best choice. It's heavy as well, so the recoil will be quite soft and manageable. It is supposedly the second most copied design after the 1911.

Interesting to note that your list has 3 compact and a full size.

You'll be comfortable with any of the four, have your wife hold each and get the one that fits her best. Integrating her into your shooting hobby will help her understand and accept it further down the line. :)

Then, after shes held all four, buy a 1911 in 9mm. Ok fine, of the 4 you suggested, I'd suggest the P2000 or the G19, but all 4 are outstanding pistols. Go with what fits you both best.

I like your choices. Sigs are lovely.

I like Glocks, but I think the XD is close enough you won't be all that excited about it, unless you really like the feel more. Personally, I'd pick a Glock over an XD any day, but that's just my hand shape.

The CZ is nice because it's a cross between the Sig and the 1911, in terms of controls and feel.

I love HKs, too, but I don't really like their LEM. You have a DAK, how do you like that? If you're a big fan, then maybe you'll like LEM. I like the V1 safety/decocker versions... It's flexible -- 1911-style cocked and locked or Sig-style DA/SA. I think the P2000 is enough better than the USP to eliminate the USP from the list.

That's my logic, but my answer is still CZ. You'll eventually want a Glock and HK in the collection. My bet is you'll end up buying the P2000.
