Geez people. He ordered rifles and had them shipped to an FFL. He had the credit card balance to support it. If he wants to sell them, ATF will have a chat with him. Maybe he is outfitting his ranch. Maybe he is a newfound prepper realizing he is way behind the curve.

Who the f know and who the f cares. As to how many ARs one should have, it's no ones business. I have more than 1 and less than 100. Whoopty doo! I have more than 1 bullet and less than a million. Whoopty doo!

For what it is worth, I was miraculously able to buy 2 BNIB AR's over the weekend at definitely pre-panic prices.

There was no store limit on how many I could buy and they had plenty in stock. There were also 20+ people in line behind me and most were there for the same thing. It just seemed to be a d!ck move to buy out everything and then go gouge people for them in a resale.

So I bought 2, and I am keeping them both. I wish I could say the same for everyone behind me.........

Are there any legal repercussions? Like if people acting like FFLs when they are not?

If you buy 20 ARs and sell them, it seems pretty obvious that you are dealing in arms and better have a license. Even if you resell though PPT at an FFL I WOULD THINK.

Seriously, I once bought a (new) RIA Tactical and on a whim PPTed a Ruger 22/45 at the same time. The FFL had to fill out a form and send it to the Sheriff informing him that I bought more than one handgun at a time.

Sadly, you're probably right. Seems like we're 'eating our young'. Who cares what others are doing? Watching this play out, and hearing all of the responses is just a more visible version of Wall St., housing speculators, currency plays, etc. This is the way the world works, has worked, will work in the future.
We should all chill and then decide if you want to play by such rules or sit out reality. If the latter, sad for you.

How many damn ARs does a guy need? !

A lot.

Returns on CDs and savings accounts are negative in real terms.

In the short term stock market losses are not unlikely.

NIB ar15s bought at retail price before Christmas were a safe short term investment unlikely to produce a loss (pretty much only if transfers were banned nationally with no grandfather clause between delivery and when you could unload them) and very likely to beat the stock market's upside when resold for immediate delivery.

If this was 4-6 weeks ago, then I can see a decent rate of return for the seller.

But if he just go these in now, the return isn't going to be as much since a lot of vendors & retailers are getting AR's and other firearms back in stock and semi-decent prices. I'm sure most people have wised up a bit and are researching more now instead of paying outrageous prices on GunBroker just because there's no other option.

IMO, a little too much, too late. I wouldn't be surprised if the seller starts to get into fire-sale mode just to move the rest of his stuff later on so that he's not sitting on money he spent.

I think he missed the boat. Prices are still higher, but there is a lot more resistance to the prices now. I have a Colt 6920 M4A1 SOCOM, I think I bought it for $1399 before the madness. Prices for this gun was over $3k on gunbroker. Now, MAYBE it will get to $2k, and a lot around $2300 are unsold. Things are starting to come down definitely for now. Even if it's a $20,000 profit, the risk of dealing without a licence is not worth the reward. You legal defence will cost twice that minimum.

Shot never mind the legal fees, $20k isnt worth all the unwanted attention from the Feds for the next dozen years.

I agree. The guys who try to jump in and flip, I wonder if the reward is worth the risk? Even without the possible dealing without a license, just the effort it would take to buy and sell those guns seems like too much. Here we already have the bubble deflating. What kind of work it is it going to take to move those guns?

It would seem the better bet is to just be a regular buyer and seller for rare guns or deal guns. Buy something off of a guy for $200 and sell it for $400. Word of mouth. This what is latest and greatest fad is going to end soon and when it does, it is going to hurt a lot of people, gun dealers with over stock included.

Maybe he likes the feel of a new rifle and likes to shoot a lot...when he gets to a certain round count...he sells the rifle and opens a box and presto...another new rifle...and so on...well after the ban. Maybe he bought them to use then sell as he "in his opinion" used them up. Hmmm...I might have just come up with a plan.

I know someone who bought 25 Colt rifles in 1993.

24 are still in the original boxes.

Why do any of you suggest the buyer intends to sell any of this? I am tiring of the whining about capitalism in the US. That said just because a person buys in bulk does not mean they are looking to sell!

I have been asked "how many motorcycles do you need, you can only ride one at a time", my response is as many as I can afford/wish to have. Same goes with firearms!
If the buyer wants as many guns as he has friends(and can afford it)....why not?

Are you just trolling or naive ? There are 30 ar's in that picture. You can rule out a Licensed Firearms Dealer or LEO being that its all different brands and that its being shipped to a FFL, An individual does not buy that many in one go to use/collect/admire. That only leaves it for re-sale or rearming the cartels or something.

Those of you quick to call people whiney bastards/commies (and there are a lot of you) just don't get it. It's not always about the money when someone disapproves of this type of ****. Let me explain it to you.

Buying up all the inventory with the exception of ffl dealer INCONSIDERATE , regardless of how much you sell it for.

Inconsiderate
adjective selfish, rude, insensitive, self-centred, careless, unkind, intolerant, thoughtless, unthinking, tactless, uncharitable,
1. Thoughtless of others; displaying a lack of consideration.
2. Lacking in care or thought for others; heedless; thoughtless

I love being inconsiderate!:D What one man purchases with his money is not another mans business! And I never called anybody on this forum (or any other for that matter) a commie, I did state I get tired of folks crying about another mans purchases and that persons intent! Now IF the purchased intent is to resale them....I would not want to be on the bad end of the ATF, if it came down legal issues. Then again I have never sold a firearm in my life(nor do I really intend to)!

As for me trolling, NO. But you seem to be!

Until the guy who is buying those guns jumps on this thread and explains his purchase, we'll never know what he is doing with them, period. Stop accusing someone of illegal activity without having the facts!
We truly are our own worst enemy. Different times (just a few weeks ago) we wouldn't be having this discussion. As others have stated, if you weren't ready for what is happening now, then shame on you.

This same buyer has two ARs on sale at the same gun store. He is selling these. Not that I have a problem with that but he is trying to ride the craze. I think that he will be upset when they don't sell for as much as he thought they would when he bought them.

Let's not accuse this guy for any wrong doing. We have only our selves to blame. If we can all come to agreement to stop buying all firearm for 6 months, the price will drop over night. This guy and any other LGS that is riding on this panic buy cash cow will all be caught with their pants down.

Okey, okey, okey, I am the guilty one, I ordered those firearms. I keep reading on different threads that it is better to keep a complete rifle as back up instead of having spare parts.
What about some of you guys? How many firearms do you keep? Some of you has more than twenty. That is not illegal. You purchase those legally, one at a time or probably two or three sometimes.
In my case I just bought them one time, save me some buck. Smart! Its my money not yours. So just shut it and drool. LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Got yaH.

The way I see it...if he does sell them, he added a bunch of people that will be against voting for a politician that is for an AWB. If you missed the boat on either the gun frenzy or the career that allows for weapon purchases in this climate, you should be angry at yourself (or maybe your parents) not the guy who did not. Just my two cents.

As of last night, they have received 31 long guns for this customer in three days. It is a private individual and not a government agency. This just proves that the guns are out there if you want to pay for them.

And that private individual will be attracting plenty of attention if he thinks he's going to resell those without an FFL. ATF will be all up in his bidness in nothin flat.
