Is it legal to buy a 30rd mag body, and make a permanent 10/30 mag out of it on your own?

you can, out of state, you have to convert to 10 round before you enter back.

Actually, you can import parts, so technically one could order the 30 rounder body and spring out of state, have them shipped over, then use a normal floor plate and follower to construct your permanently modified 10 rounder.

Truth. As long as you permanently modify the mag body to only hold ten rounds before assembling all the other parts, it's legal.

Cool, just as I thought. Now I need to figure out how or what can I do to make it permanent. I know I can buy them already made, but some people have said they can only insert 9 rds. I might end up doing a 10/20 since I can't find the bushmasters anymore.

You can still get the 10/20 from Bushmaster's website. I just received four of them two days ago.

I am putting a 6.8 oll together and the mags you get are 30 round shells punched out to hold ten 6.8 so I'm sure you can order some of thoes and put a 223 fallower in it
