I bagged a decent forker around Pioneer on Sun. The deer are still up high right now, but after that last rain and if it stays on the cool side, look for them to start moving down a little.

I'm not familiar with that area. Is it around Amador county?

It's so funny when people say the deer are still up high. Rediculous in fact. There are deer at 3500' all summer and winter. You just have to find them.
I got my buck on 9/29 near Bear Meadow, about 2 miles east of Grizzly Flat, or 15 miles southeast of Sly Park. A little over 4000'. You can see him in my thread (http://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/showthread.php?t=70606).
Anyhow. Deer in D5 are scarce. You need to look for some fresh trails, esp in the snow. If you're near Peddler Hill, you could try some spots along the Mehrten or Cat Creek Roads, north side of SR88.
