First ever PSL/Dragunov owners shoot at Angeles shooting range. I thought it would be cool to have a get together with other PSL/Dragunov owners from this forum. Thanks for coming guys. It was fun and it was great meeting you all. Combined, we brought some really nice toys today. You definately don't see that at the range very much. For the other 5 PSL shooters that couldn't make it, thanks for trying, hope you can make it next time.

Question for you guys that shoot the Dragunovs... Are those registered assault weapons? Or are we still able to get them in this less than free state? Cause if I can get one, I WANT ONE!!! If one of you guys could let me know, maybe in a PM that would be awesome. Thanks. Those things are sweet.

The answer to that question is Yes, they are still legal to get because they are an off list rifle. You just need to order it and have to wait the 10 days and thats it (either fill the buttstock up, take it off and have no pistol grip, or slap on a ak bullet button). You live in Santa Ana, right? If so, talk to ade's and go online search for a romak psl that is cheap :chris: and have it shipped to him. I doubt that you could find a cheap one anymore, but you'll see some for a higher price now ^_^

Oh yeah, sorry I couldn't make it to the meet. I had to work my butt off that Sunday. I might see you in the future psl meet (^-0)

Thanks for organizing it Tom, I had a blast :33:
I think when we had all of the PSL and Tigr going off it was the loudest portion of the range. The G43 and P7M8 were fun too, thanks Sean!

Look at those brave fellows standing in the parking lot. We get yelled here at Chabot for casing/uncasing anywhere but the shooting tables, guns pointed in a safe direction.

SOrry I couldn't make it guys. Looks like everybody had fun though. What ammo did you guys end up going with? Did they allow the Wolf 148gr bimetal cartidges?

We all used the copper fmj wolf (at least i did). The RO's never checked, which surprised me after reading some range reviews about Angeles. I had a very pleasant experience at the range. I really don't like this ammo. It is twice as expensive as my Hungarian surplus, had a bunch of feed/eject failures, and was less accurate than the Hungarian surplus. Most of the rounds also had split cases, and it seemed like the Wolf made a bunch more smoke in your face. I would really like putting my PSL on paper with 7N1 (which is also cheaper than wolf) but I am sure the range would not allow that.

The rifle range at Angeles sits on top of a hill. The parking lot behind it drops about 20 feet below, and continues to slope downward. Those muzzles are a good 30 feet above those guys heads. Angeles has 3 rules regarding where muzzles have to point.
1. Anytime you're walking with your rifle down the firing line, the muzzle must be kept pointed upward at all times (and actions open).
2. If you place the guns on the rear bench, for cleaning or uncasing, the muzzle must point towards the parking lot.
3. While on the shooting bench, muzzles must point towards the targets.

Nice rifles guys. I just started checking prices, looked like 800 is about average, if anyone knows where I could get one for 500 or so, let me know... Nice looking guns though.

OK, that's an awesome price. Especially when you don't have to deal with the hassle of shipping it twice. Seems all of the PSL's are down south. What's up with that Nor Cal boys? :D

Are the CWS ones the Romanian built versions(Cugir stamps instead of th eFPK Dragunov markings)? If so, I think they are a bit nicer than the kit built ones from TGI. Plus with the romanians, all numbers on the parts match(at least they do on mine). Some of them are even shipping with matching serial numbers on the mags. $700 is a good price for that, I paid just about that price for mine.

A real imported Romanian will sell for well over $1000 fyi.

It all depends on what your definition of real imported romanian is. The cugirs, which are built in romania on romanian receivers, are going for $750 each with scopes and mags. At least that is what I paid for each of mine.

Who is the importer? If it doesn't have an import mark it was made in America with romanian receiver.

Century Arms are the importer on these, when they came in, they were selling for around $750 give or take a little depending on how many mags were included, etc. My US assembled dragunovs receivers don't say Cugir, they say FPK Dragunov. The Romanians say Cugir, in addition to(and part of) the import marks.
