Thanks. When I was a kid my friends and I would ride our bikes over to the Santa Ana Gun Room and stare at all the goods for sale. We could easily kill an afternoon that way. I hadn't thought of that place in years...

Yep, in those days the Red LA Times at least had some common sense. Sadly those days are over.

What cost $189.50 in 1960 would cost $1266.05 in 2006.
Meh, IMO it's gotten CHEAPER, you can get a 6920 for the same price (inflation adjusted) today that is much more advanced and cost more to produce.
What cost $299 in 1960 would cost $1997.62 in 2006.
That Sig AMT though, I don't think I've seen those for under $5,000 for the past few years.
It just goes to show, buying the latest and greates will make you hemorrage money like piss, but buying a classic, limited quantity collectible is the opposite. I don't even want to guess what my No.5 Enfield that I paid $95 for 2 years ago is worth now. The next run up will be Swiss K-31's and Finn's M39, the Swedes have already crept up there in price.

LA Times will still accept ads like the above from gun dealers but the prices are inflated, you're not reaching your target market (pun intended) and since they don't allowing non-dealers to list guns in their classifieds, and they are clearly biased when reporting on gun issues or NRA news, in their editorials & opinion pages, they constantly support anti-gun politicians (it has become a prerequisite for their support) why would a dealer want to support LA Times with dollars for advertising anyway?

Looking at old gun ads can be really fun.
Just looking at old Shotgun news ads from 10 or 20 years ago make me wish I had bought more than a few good old guns.
The US dollar is really going down now.
When you start talking about 20, 30 or 40 years ago. A dollar was just a whole different animal.
My Dad bought a new Chevy Camero, 350/v8 automatic for about $2500.00 in 1973.
In about 1957 Dad bought a 3 bedroom house in North Hollywood for $11,000.
Nice house too.
The house was by far the best inventment.
People did not get paid much in those days either.
