Does anyone know where I could get my 1911 project hard chromed in the so cal area? I don't want to send it out of state due to the fees of overnight shipping and the hassles involved. Thanks

I know that Will O'hara does hard chrome jobs, but I'm pretty certain he ships the frame and slide out after he does all the prep work.
There's more to it than just putting the parts in the plating tanks.
You are going to want a pistolsmith familiar with the job that will do the prep work and re-fit the gun afterwards.

Will is your guy.

FordsGuns.com is another option. They are the ones that do Magnum Reseach finishes.

Interesting I have a finish job to do that is going to require removal of plating from a circa 1944 1911a1 and may try this on my own after reading a how to in American Gunsmith but wouldn't try it if I wasn't going to DuraCoat afterward.
