>50 years old, C&R... legal.

They are already CA legal. They are considered C&R by age as they were manufactured in 1953. They are not subject to the "safe" handgun list. Just find an FFL to do the transfer and order one.

If this is the same gun in

They claim:
Due to the safety that was added so they could be imported, these pistols are not C&R eligilble.

J&G weren't considering them C&R either, when I was in there last week.

But price is awesome

J&G wasn't considering them C&R in May either. I made a road trip when the CZ-82 hit the C&R list and was hoping to pick up a Tokarev or CZ-52 (they were sold out).

I want one too. If they are old enough to be C&R, what is the problem?

They had a safety added to meet requirements for importation. That takes them out of their original configuration.

Arrgh! They ADD a safety feature to make them actually safer, takes them out of C&R, no longer good for Kali "safe gun" exemption..

This state is f****d u*!

Come on retirement
I'm outta here.

I thought alteration of a firearm only removed it's C&R status when it was classified as C&R under the Curio portion of the definition. There are TWO modifiers: Curio and then Relic.

So let's say WWI commemrative M1 rifles are made and are classified as Curios by the ATF. Someone rechambers the rifle in .308 and it is now not a Curio. On the other hand, someone has a tried and true 1940ish M1 in .30-06 and it's a Curio and Relic. They rechamber it in .308. It's still a Curio and Relic. It's the same reason why sporterized milsurps that are 50+ years or old are C&R eligible.

Now if someone took one of those CZ-83s that just hit the C&R list and altered them THEN that would no longer be a C&R, or if the Torkarev was manufactured AFTER 1956 then it would not be a C&R, but those pistols listed that on the given page are all 50+ years or older are still C&R.

Unless ATF has issued another letter changing this in the recent past...
