Sorry if this was already posted, but I thought it was a good video about how gun control does NOT work. Good job 20/20.

It looks like John Stossel updated his gun segment.

oh great post i did not see it yet so its new too me.

Ya i can't see how people would disagree with this segment either but the two viewers that wrote in are huge duche bags i actually got upset....lol ya but good video lot of key points were mention i laughed when the whole country was lite up for being able to have a ccw except cali but we do have a law which we can but even 20/20 saw how bogus it was and did not even recognize it

really though... i love to argue about stuff - hell, i even made a long thread here a while ago talking about US vs UK and guns and such and it was an interesting debate. i don't think i can think of one argument to put up against this video.

If you like John Stossel, then read his book "GIVE ME A BREAK". It's truly a fantastic read!!!!

Perhaps this was aired before the recent worldwide study of guns vs. violence was published so the 2 who disagreed did not know there is no link between the amount of guns owned by private citizens and the amount of gun violence.

It makes my head hurt how anti's can continue to spew misinformation in the face of facts that prove they are wrong.

What percentage of statistics is made up on the spot again? Is it 78%?

10-04-2007, 11:08 AM
I'm surprised that the network actually had the balls to air the truth. I'm sure the anti-gunners hated seeing this one.

It's been around a while, glad to see it again.

Worth mentioning are the inmates stating they'll always get guns and are worried about being shot by the good guys with guns. We can argue with the Bradys, but these guys state pretty plainly citizens with guns are harder targets than unarmed people.

Also, regarding the rise in violence in DC since about 1976 and the gun ban. I think we need to be a bit careful. If we have asserted that violence increased primarily to a disarmed public, and if Heller upholds the 2nd, we have created the expectation that crime should then drop. Perhaps it will or perhaps not. I think there are other factors that contribute to crime and that should be our position.

John Stossel is a longtime libertarian, and is a great guy. He has a few books out that are very enlightening.
