Lame that they don't have info in the user's instructions from Remington:

You need a special tool. It's a "key" of sorts that you use to unscrew a screw head. When I installed a Surefire light, my light came with one.

OP, if your close to San Diego, I have a "Key" for the forend that you can borrow if need be.

I think I paid all of $15 delivered for a forearm wrench on eBay.
